So, my '22 order got scheduled for September 12th. I lucked out and found a '21 that I picked up and I absolutely love it. My question is this, I went to my dealer to let them know I will not be taking delivery of my '22 Mach 1 that just got a build date. The sales manager basically cussed me out claiming that he will get penalized if I do not take the car. I did some research and nothing seems to point to that. I have also seen plenty of people who have done the exact same thing as I have with no issue.
Before I placed my second order with Ourisman, I let both Chapman and Ourisman know I had two orders placed, and I'd take the first one that arrived.
Both dealers said that was no problem.

Ok, just received the official shipping date from Ford Aug 6 to Aug 12 for my 22 Mach 1 Grabber Blue, 700A, 10 Spd Auto, Handling & Elite Pkg, Red Painted Calips and voice activated Nav Sys. Purchased the Mach 1 from Granger Ford live in Fla and decided I would fly to Des Moine IW, pick up the car and do a road trip back to Fla. So, is their something I need to be on the lookout for I.e. alignments as in wheels, qtr panels and hood? Is there anything I should do as in remove splitter and ? before trip back to Fla. Should I pay someone to do a wash and wax before I take the Mustang on the road?

track wrap if you don't have Granger's local detail + PPF shop give it a workup before you pick it up. And don't tailgate semis and construction trucks. If you do it right you'll be threading your way down every bumpkin 2-lane curvy road between IA and FL so you shouldn't have to dodge any heavy vehicles.

So you recommend staying off the Interstates and using the back/country roads. I know Ms and Al well because I lived in those 2 states and there is a lot of country roads in those 2 states.

it's what 1200 miles? if you do Interstate you'll end up droning the engine at low RPM for long periods of time. If you do interesting 2-lane you're in and out of the throttle constantly and doing a more optimal break-in procedure. You can use the interstate for those 30-80mph sprints where you zing it thru the RPM range and back down.

Plus you find nifty places/sights when doing 2-lane. Mix it up however you like. If you swing east and pick up Ohio, and Kentucky and such plenty of enjoyment there too.

I have to say that I'm not too thrilled with Chapman's level of communication. Emailed them 3 times over the last 24 hours to confirm/upload a couple final small details so I can send the payment and no answer from anyone. Guess I'm going to have to start harassing them by phone next if I don't hear back in a couple hours.

The deal is good money-wise, but having to constantly follow up with them is having me feeling like I maybe should have gone with Granger instead...

Nah I didn't finance. Paying cash. I plan on keeping this car for a long time unless the S650 refresh down the road makes this car obsolete or someone offers me way over market value for it for whatever reason. Plus I don't like being in debt, lol.

Nice!! I bought mine from Chapman as well. I asked them not to put the dealer sticker on, and they did anyway. The good news is, it peeled right off with no problem at all. I did that as soon as I got home. I still have their license plate frame on the car because I'm still on the PA temporary cardboard tag. I was going to pull the frame off but it seems to be helping to keep the cardboard tag attached to the car. The tag has gotten wet several times from washing. That didn't do the temp tag's structural integrity any good. As soon as my hard tags get in, the frame is getting tossed in the recycle bin. The delivery process was pretty painless, I was in and out of there in about 45 minutes. Have fun with your new ride!!

I’m also having a road trip later in the Fall from Granger/Des Moines, but only to Atlanta. Was thinking first stop at Eureka MO, next to St Louis, for the Route 66 National Park museum. Then through the Mark Twain National Forest and Ozark Plateau.
I still need some more ideas from there to reach Atlanta. Maybe I should lookup some Bikers clubs online to see their typical weekend itineraries..
