Thanks man! I'm going to call Ford Marketing on Monday and see if they can handle this with the dealer. This is not leg-work the customer should have to be doing. Looks like the dealer claims the difference and gets a check from Ford, the customer should not be involved.
That's my understanding: it's between the dealer and Ford. I'd like to think most dealers are familiar with the process, but I also realize (see example above) there are dealers who attempt a slight of hand or other means to increase their margin.

Both cars, the one you got called about, and the ordered car are from Granger? Did you get a confirmation on the "ordered" car? I'm a little confused by your post.
Sorry, to try to summarize:

January I worked with a dealer in Tampa putting together an order but after the dealer told me the color was not available for 2022 they never got back to me…no confirmation to sign, no email from ford, etc. The last correspondence from them was Jan 24 telling me they would send me the available colors once the manager was back…never did get that info. Then today the same sales person called me that ā€œmy orderā€ arrived.

February I reached out to Grainger, they quickly sent me a buyer order, I signed electronically, paid their deposit, got a confirmation from the dealer and from Ford that the order was submitted. This car is still in ā€œunscheduled-cleanā€ status.

Both cars were ordered as 22Mach1, 600a, Manual, Cloth Recaro, Handling pack, Rear Seat Delete. January I selected Twister Orange before I knew it wasn’t available, and February with Grainger I picked Eruption Green as they supplied me with the 2022 color pallet.

I don’t care for the Cyber Orange from pictures but haven’t seen it in person. I agree securing the car missing the RSD is much better than manufacturer-purgatory but based on the window sticker for this car it’s current pricing (not pre-increase), plus the much higher dealer fee ($995) and the additional 1% I’d pay in sales tax (in state purchase) vs use tax (out of state purchase). So at MSRP vs the deal from Grainger it’s almost $7000 more…as this is a vehicle I want but don’t need it’s pretty tempting to chance it an keep waiting.

I am going there on Monday to see if we can make a deal.

I don't know why Ford makes it so difficult with the price protection at the dealers. Or maybe most dealers are just being assholes hoping to keep the extra money.

I ordered March 2021, there was a June 1 price increase, and I took delivery Oct 9. I did a lot of researching and it was very difficult to find anything in writing on price protection, but somehow I found out that Ford would honor the pricing at the time of order placement for retail orders. The way they did it sucked though; the dealer got invoiced at the new higher price when the car arrived, and Ford would reimburse the dealer for the difference 30 days or more after Ford verified that the actual person who ordered the car was the one who bought it.

I went back and forth with my salesman and sales manager about this, and didn't have much ammo in terms of documentation, but somehow convinced them that I knew how it really worked. They had to go back to their regional rep or something, blah blah blah, whatever. (I did NOT order from Granger or Chapman, it was a little local dealer who took forever to understand I DIDN'T want a Mach-E when I came in to order.)

So we all understood each other before delivery, but when I came in to sign the papers, they showed the new price. The sales manager said oops, would you possibly be kind enough to just pay the new price, and we'll mail you a check for the difference in a month or two after we get it from Ford, so we don't have to show a loss on the vehicle this month? My gut said tell him no way, but I did it.

So mid-November I got a survey from Ford asking about the dealership experience. I called the salesman and said hey, I got this survey but don't want to fill it out till I get the check. He said well the only one that gets hurt by doing that is him. I said sorry to hear that, but it's the only leverage I have to get the check. Get me the check now, there's no reason for me to keep waiting for the $1200 when you are going to give it to me anyway, October is over. So he told the sales manager and GM, who both said no way, he made a deal to wait till we get it from Ford. So I said no problem, I'll reflect my feelings in the survey appropriately. A little while later he called back and said they'll have the check for me next week, don't fill out the survey. I came in to get it and the sales manager would barely look at me, I am definitely no longer welcome there. Sigh... ridiculous.
That's a good idea, thanks. If it becomes an issue, withhold the survey, or send it back with a tactful, but detailed letter explaining what happened. I'm comfortable Ford would engage the dealer and settle the matter; it would certainly carry a lot more weight coming from Ford.

Thanks for the info! Good luck on a deal, if you like/want it.
I kind of like the color, it reminds me of School Bus Yellow on the BOSS 302, only metallic. I wouldn't buy that color, but it looks cool.

I received my first build date, with a VIN, two months prior to the scheduled production date.

*Sorry. Re-read. I got pushed back twice thus far. My first build date was 23 May, then it became 30 May (slip 1). Now, it's 06 June (slip 2). In each occurrence, I was told of the date slip a few weeks before the build date.

For example, in March, I was first told my build date was 23 May. First week of May, I was told the 23 May date slipped, to 30th.

I think you could get notified any time though. But ya, I was about two to three weeks out from my scheduled build date when I was told of the slip/s.

I got pushed back twice, May 9 to 16th then to the 23rd. The week of May 17th i got a Ford email notice that my car was in Production and I got an email from Granger that my car was in transit. When checking the Ford site, my window sticker was there and showed a blend date of May 25th.

As of today, the Ford site still shows my vehicle in Production phase.

Hope that helps

It would make a darn good looking BOSS 302 with hockey stick stripes, etc.. The Cal Special treatment looks nice too.

Went by and took a look, the color is actually really cool in person. I ended up passing on it, it’s not exactly the car I was talking to them about ordering back in January when they ghosted me and called me out of the blue this weekend. They were firm with me on the current MSRP and they have a dealer fee of $995. They said they will probably add an ADM when it goes on their lot. If anyone is interested you can reach out to Brian Jamieson at Ferman Ford Clearwater.

$62,040
2022 Mach 1 600a, 6spd Manual
Cyber Orange Metallic $695
Recaro Cloth Seats $1650
Handling Package $4500

Is it too late to put an order in for a 2022? Im looking for grabber blue, tremec, elite package, those are the main options but i cant find any, found one in KY but theyre asking 10k over sticker which is a complete joke. Ford really needs to reign in these dealerships more

I put an order in last week for a grabber blue Mach with HP and they said it shouldn't be an issue. It might depend on the dealer.

I hope so.
I'm only a week and half since my order was placed.
I'm thinking September.
My family all thinks it nuts it would take that long.
But I'm thinking even that's optimistic.

I'm not aware the order banks are closed, but the window for production is closing. Mustang MY23 order banks open in October. If ordering a Mach 1 HP, the build has to complete before it gets too cold, due to the tires. Can't confirm how late you can order, but it seems September would be the latest date to build. Shipping from factory to dealer is approximately 30 days, if not more.
