I'm hoping Ford knows how many they can build, and after that point says, orders closed.
What good is it to keep taking orders that they know they'll never get to?
It's like a Seinfeld episode where Jerry goes to pick up his rental car and they don't have it, even though he has a reservation.
"Anyone can TAKE a reservation, it's HOLDING the reservation that matters!"
Great episode, by the way!

I've been clicking the link on the order scheduled email from Ford about once a week, and it would always say to try again later. But, today, the order tracking link finally gave me this:
Screenshot 2022-05-27 at 10-45-42 Ford Vehicle Order Tracking Status.png

The Window Sticker Tab/Link now gives me the try again later message.
I guess it's making progress at least.
I have had that since the first e-mail from Ford saying 6/27-week production date.

I have been pushed back to 7/18- week a couple of weeks ago!

Still no window sticked info.

My car is now in production!
Original date of 5/30, new production date of 5/24
Don't get too excited... If anything is missing it will sit for a looong time waiting. Get excited when you get a note saying it is shipped to the dealer. In production and built mean nothing.

Just got the email that my car is built, estimated delivery of June 23-29. Oddly, I decided months ago July 4th was my cutoff before I bought something else, looks like I might actually get it. Sadly, all the excitement seems to have gone, maybe my enthusiasm will change when it gets here.
Doesn't sound good. It's built but missing something and they think it will in by 6/25. I'm in the same boat since 1/27/22. Whatever is missing isn't coming anytime soon. Built means nothing unfortunately. Get excited when it is shipped to the dealer. Until then, it isn't 100% built. It went thru the line but is missing something.

Follow-up from yesterday...window sticker available this AM. Blend date of 06 June, which aligns with e-mail received from Ford earlier. FWIW, my order priority has been 9.

Sticker reflects the price increases from mid-April, not what I originally signed the DORA for. Not concerned, as we've all been experiencing this.

Your car has been built since January 27th? What was the estimated delivery window Ford gave you?

I signed an order and put a deposit down in February with Grainger…no updates since the confirmation email from Ford and a second email apologizing for the delay. Still hope this order comes in.

Prior to ordering with Grainger I had been emailing/calling local dealers to ask about cars they had on the lot/in transit, every dealer within a few hundred miles was asking $2500-$5000-$7500 ADM. When they would state they couldn’t/wouldn’t move on price I would always ask about putting in an order…most wouldn’t reply or it just never got anywhere. Then I found a dealer in Tampa that would do an order. Several back/forth emails, they asked me to build it on the Ford site and send it. I did however this was early January and the Ford site was still 2021. I wasn’t aware of the color option changes for ‘22 so I selected Twister Orange. I attached the build and specifically outlined the options in plain text - they asked me to send my license and they would submit the order - but a few days later they let me know the color wasn’t available and what my new choice would be - I asked for info on the colors I could choose from AND NEVER HEARD BACK!

However today I received an interesting phone call, the same dealer/salesperson from January called me to say my “Orange Mach1” came in…puzzled, I asked a few questions, he emailed me the window sticker and told me they would still honor MSRP with no ADM…it’s a green/special order, and although it’s missing the rear-seat-delete all the options are right and the car is “orange”…specifically Cyber Orange Metallic.

I have order 2 vehicles previously with Ford and both times I spec the car, send my license, they send me back a buyers order with all my options, pricing, my info and ask to confirm everything is correct. This deal got hung on the color issue, I never got a confirmation email from the dealer or ford and now it just shows up!?!? I guess it’s possible they submitted an order under my name that was as close as possible to what I asked for but it feels like they’re just fishing for a buyer. I’m going to see it in person Monday.

I doubt they will come close to the 2% off invoice dealer I have on order … I just hope my name possibly being attached to this car doesn’t hurt my chances of getting the exact car I want.

In the same boat, dealer says Ford isn't working with them on "price protection". Bit annoying to wait this long and they increase pricing in the interim. If anyone sees Jim Owens at Carlisle next weekend, do us all a favor and voice our collective displeasure. (If you don't know, he's the head of Mustang Marketing.)

I'm referring to the mid-April price changes. Ford's release statement confirmed all orders placed before mid-April have price protection. When was your order placed? Was your order changed after mid-April?

My order was placed in January and unchanged, where is the statement from Ford? I'll email it to my salesman.

Let me see if I can get an actual release statement.

*Edit: I wanted to find an actual media release statement. It appears Ford does not release price increases/changes like this in a public release. It is a message to the dealers. I do know if an order is changed the new prices apply. If it was a dealer order, unnamed, the new prices might apply. But if the order was in January under your name, your should be covered. Ford and the dealer settle any differences in pricing after the sale, between themselves.

Both cars, the one you got called about, and the ordered car are from Granger? Did you get a confirmation on the "ordered" car? I'm a little confused by your post.

Either way, is a Mach1 in the hand (for a few grand more and missing the seat delete) worth more or less than the Mach1 in the bush (for less money and with the seat delete) that is the question. I know there are a number of people here that would gladly pay for the one already delivered.

I don't know why Ford makes it so difficult with the price protection at the dealers. Or maybe most dealers are just being assholes hoping to keep the extra money.

I ordered March 2021, there was a June 1 price increase, and I took delivery Oct 9. I did a lot of researching and it was very difficult to find anything in writing on price protection, but somehow I found out that Ford would honor the pricing at the time of order placement for retail orders. The way they did it sucked though; the dealer got invoiced at the new higher price when the car arrived, and Ford would reimburse the dealer for the difference 30 days or more after Ford verified that the actual person who ordered the car was the one who bought it.

I went back and forth with my salesman and sales manager about this, and didn't have much ammo in terms of documentation, but somehow convinced them that I knew how it really worked. They had to go back to their regional rep or something, blah blah blah, whatever. (I did NOT order from Granger or Chapman, it was a little local dealer who took forever to understand I DIDN'T want a Mach-E when I came in to order.)

So we all understood each other before delivery, but when I came in to sign the papers, they showed the new price. The sales manager said oops, would you possibly be kind enough to just pay the new price, and we'll mail you a check for the difference in a month or two after we get it from Ford, so we don't have to show a loss on the vehicle this month? My gut said tell him no way, but I did it.

So mid-November I got a survey from Ford asking about the dealership experience. I called the salesman and said hey, I got this survey but don't want to fill it out till I get the check. He said well the only one that gets hurt by doing that is him. I said sorry to hear that, but it's the only leverage I have to get the check. Get me the check now, there's no reason for me to keep waiting for the $1200 when you are going to give it to me anyway, October is over. So he told the sales manager and GM, who both said no way, he made a deal to wait till we get it from Ford. So I said no problem, I'll reflect my feelings in the survey appropriately. A little while later he called back and said they'll have the check for me next week, don't fill out the survey. I came in to get it and the sales manager would barely look at me, I am definitely no longer welcome there. Sigh... ridiculous.

Thanks man! I'm going to call Ford Marketing on Monday and see if they can handle this with the dealer. This is not leg-work the customer should have to be doing. Looks like the dealer claims the difference and gets a check from Ford, the customer should not be involved.

It's possible I might encounter same. While I did sign an order/DORA, I did not sign a purchase agreement. If this topic becomes an issue at signing, I'll give them a choice: 1) sell the car as we agreed to , 2) keep the deposit and I'll exit the deal. I want the car, but I won't be negotiating the price of the car yet again.

Like @Mikepol2 said, it shouldn't be complicated. From the customer perspective, it should be seamless.
