Glad to hear you are liking it!I already did a few 2nd gear to 5th gear shifts on accident in my first 8 miles. Barely driven it though because I have no tags on it. 100% illegal right now, lol. My MGW shifter trained me differently in my 17. 3rd is more up than it is to the right in comparison with the MGW I had.
The Tremec is leagues ahead of the MT-82 though from the short time I've been in it. Loving it.
They are very different indeed. It took about 600 miles or so for the tremec to loosen up, it gets more enjoyable with time. It also likes warm temperatures and asks for more precision in your movements that the MT-82, which was fairly forgiving by sports car standards. I'm still having to train myself to be better with the tremec, I'm paying the price for past laxity on shifting, this is my fault not the tremec's. It is very rewarding to nail it on some good quick and smooth shifts. The revmatch is just awesome, yep its like cheating!
The MT-82 was not like that, it felt hardly different from brand new to a few Ks in.
All that said the Tremec is much better. I was interested to see how the gear ratios worked out in the M1, as both my previous MT82s were on 2014 cars with 3.73 rears, (the good ratios) compared to the S550 cars with the MT-82 D4. The gearing in the M1 is just fine, it slots in between the MT82 and the MT82D4 ratios, I thought it might be slightly tall, but I have found its not the case in practical daily driving, its no problem really.
The gear ratios are a non issue in the USA M1, I'm not sure what the ratios are in export varieties AUS and EUR.
Damn, I want to go on a drive now!
