He did say battery electric no hybrid so who knows. Showed both the Explorer and Mustang going in. Best of both worlds meaning the electric side of the Explorer and the performance side of the Mustang?????
Now sounding like packaged into an SUV.

Coyote powered Explorer with some extra electric motors and upgraded suspension, that sounds like it could be a Ford Performance special to flesh out the 12 models by...2020 they were aiming for.

Did Ford lose their license on the Lightning name? That would fit so much better as a performance variant of the Explorer.
Was just about to post the same question?? I would think "Lightning" would fit better for an electric truck/SUV model. And not piss off the Mustang enthusists.

Ok. My gut says the hybrid stang will use the 4 cylinder turbo.
I really hope not.... and i don’t think so.

The video was pretty clear about a V8 engine with “e-Racer acceleration”.... for me that says “Hybrid V8”.

Ugh I was excited for a hybrid mustang. V8 power + electric motors, sounded awesome. Now it's a SUV? With the Mach1 nameplate? WTF Ford.

I don’t like “Lightning” for the Explorer, I think “THUNDER” would fit even better.... do you remember the SVT Thunder that’s never saw the light?

Based on Ford's history, legacy and heritage I would suggest that there is no way that they would consider a Mustang with only a 4 cylinder engine as a hybrid whether it is FI or NA.

In the history of the Mustang which goes back some ~53 years there was only one year that Ford did not produce a production V8 in a Mustang and that was during the 1974 MY.

I am suggesting that Ford will not go down that same road again!

;)

It’s both.. the Explorer and the Mustang.
So they are going to use the “mach1” like they use “ecoboost”. Makes a bit more sense but I still think the Mach 1 should be Mustang only.

Well... in Mexico there was a V8 powered 1974 Mustang, so....
