I'm hoping for the same as well. Keep the GT350 exclusive. The 5.2 could easily come out as a 5.2 CPC version in a Mach 1 variant and be sold right alongside the GT500. Ford stated they wouldn't produce 2 Shelby's at the same time, so I sincerely doubt they will wait until 2020 to bring back the GT500. No point in making the Mach 1 the Hellcat fighter and take away the "top dog" position of the GT500.

They could still quite easily enter a Mustang GT4 with a 5.2 CPC for racing purposes, while also promoting two new products in the Mach 1 with a 5.2 NA CPC, and the GT500 with possibly a TT 5.2 CPC. Keep the 350 exclusive and special, bring two new products to the line with their own respective unique characteristics, and keep sales, interest, and demand high.

Porsche has proven that there is no benefit of stretching special edition vehicles out longer than 2-3 years.
They didn't have any issue with the GT500..

It's happening.

Before I could find an allocation I was wishing for more production years, now that I have the car I wish for more exclusivity and less volume. At the end of the day more years doesn't make the car less special, I guess it's frustrating if you had high hopes for an appreciating "investment"
Anyone buying a new GT350 as an investment needs to have their head checked. Take a look at 2000 Cobra R values: It was a SIGNIFICANTLY more rare car (only 300 made in total), and 16 years later they're worth roughly 10K more than what they cost. You'd be better off investing in a hot dog stand.

Which is approximately what inflation has done over the last 16 years. So break even, which still is not bad at all on a vehicle, but even GT350Rs will be no where near that rare.

I already have over 6500 miles on my car, and 4 track days, hopefully 5 on Monday
I didn't buy it for an investment.
But I do like the cool factor, of very few around.
Either way, I will enjoy my car :)

Not to offend anyone with a Cobra R, but there really wasn't anything particularly special about that car other than the fact so few were made. Big difference to that car which had no real historical background, to the 350R that:

A) has the largest displacement FPC V8 that will ever be produced
B) the last naturally aspirated FPC V8 that will ever be produced due to new emissions and CAFE regulations coming out in 2018
C) has great racing history success from 50 years ago, hence it is a tribute of those cars today

I'm not saying its a guaranteed thing, because I too did not buy it as an investment. I will drive it and use it and keep it until the day I die, but to compare the 350R to a Cobra R is apples to oranges really. Limited numbers alone do not represent something special or make it a wise investment; you need either very unique and special aspects unlike anything else currently available OR success in pro racing OR historical value, of which the 350/R has all of the above :D

I didn't buy mine as a investment by any means, but I also don't want to see one on every corner. Keep the tradition and only build 2 years. Move onto the next great mustang ford.

Besides what more can they possibly improve on the GT350 on the s550 platform? If they could of already of done it they would of from the start. Unless they can get weight out of the car with a magic wand or increase hp for almost free forget it. This car doesn't need more power, it needs less weight!
I dropped 170 pounds from my GT350 Track pack. I don't see ford doing that on the Non-R shelbys.

They could of used
- aluminum front control arms.
- aluminum differential housing.
- forged wheels.
- carbon fiber driveshaft.
Shou'da cou'da wou'da.

History always repeats itself. The future mustang GT will be faster then the current GT350 in due time. Much so like the current GT is as fast as the last Boss.

At that time, that car was quite special. Feature content that made it so -

1) 5.4L naturally aspirated engine with a beautiful intake manifold, shared with no other Mustang or Ford product (including billet steel connecting rods)
2) track-oriented suspension tuning and components
3) Brembo brakes
4) Recaro front seats
5) lightweighting by deleting radio, AC, back seats
6) IRS
7) detachable front spoiler & fixed rear wing to provide downforce
8) B&M Ripper shifter with 6-speed Temec T-56 transmission
9) Bassani X-pipe exhaust with Borla mufflers with side exit
10) brake cooling ducts, with carbon fiber heatshields

Sounds pretty racy to me.

damn tony, know your shit buddy.
I wanted (want) one bad! If pressed to choose between it and a current GT350, I would struggle with the decision. Both are stellar vehicles. I actually think having a higher GT350 production is a benefit when trying to find parts down the road.

Not to mention a fuel safe fuel cell.
