2018 GT350 or 2022 Dodge TRX?

I know this is a polar opposite comparison, but I currently have a 2018 GT350. Love the car. Absolutely amazing vehicle. Though, it is not a DD for me nor would it probably ever be since I live in the Bay Area and I am also a big guy (6 foot, 280lbs) built like Johnny Bravo. With that said, I have a buddy who works at a dodge dealer that can get me a TRX at MSRP. Also, I own my own business and would be able to write off the TRX (weighs over 6000lbs) on my taxes, which would be a huge savings. With the Shelby I cannot write it off. TRX is also a super fun vehicle, but also a very different vehicle. Much more daily drivable, super comfy, and overall has a ton of utility. Still fast as well, but in a different way than the GT350. Also, it is more fun as an off roader vs the GT350 being more a track weapon/race car.

So, if you were me, would you go for the tax benefits and get a DD with the TRX or would you keep the GT350 as a toy along with a shit box as a DD?

I would get the TRX if I were you. Ideally you keep the GT350 too.

I am lucky enough to be able to have my car as a second car. For me, it wouldn't work as a my only car.

Not sure MSRP is a very good deal right now. Give it a bit, and you'll be getting a huge deal. That thing has to cost an absolutely fortune to drive with the cost of gas right now.

After I converted my car to a track only car, I drove around a Raptor. Loved the truck and it was a great daily. But damn, filling that thing up with gas sucked and it was wildly inconvenient most of the time. Only real reason we kept it is because we weren't ready to buy the big diesel yet.

I'd prefer a GT350 unless you had a need to haul around doggos or "truck stuff" and can only have one.

This is actually a great point. The truck won't arrive for awhile (I already ordered it, but I can back out with no penalty if I want when it arrives and purchase time comes). So gas prices might be high enough that I can get a sweet deal. Good looking out!

My Shelby will be a canyon carver and track car with the buddies only pretty much. Not my only car. I have a little Toyota I drive as a gas saver/daily right now.

I have a little Toyota as my daily. The GT350 is my second car. So if I got the TRX, I would get rid of both and just have the TRX as my only car. TRX is definitely a better only car. GT350 is an absolute blast though.

I guess part of the equation is "do you need a 4x4 pickup truck?" Those TRXs are GIGANTIC and even here in wide open South Texas seem too big so in the San Francisco Bay Area they might really seem outsized.

I have contemplated Raptors in the past but they are just too big for my parking garage at work and the TRXs are even bigger. Also, their width is a problem on most ranch trails. I have a Trackhawk as a daily driver (w/Hellcat engine) and it is just so darned much fun to drive and use. The size is perfect for me (tons of room inside but pretty much same length overall as my 350R) plus it still has over 8" of ground clearance and isn't super wide for those occasions I go down to friends' ranches.

As others have said there are dealers doing huge discounts on the trx, head over to ram-trx.com the info for all dealers doing deals is consolidated.
Granger stopped doing there special which was 9K off of msrp with price protection. We went through them for ours.

The power is perfect, feels like the hellcat was made for the truck
Interior is very well thought out.

I actually do need a truck soon possibly for hauling equipment for my gym (I own a strongman/powerlifting gym). Also, it would be nice to have a vehicle to be able to go on camping trips with the lady as well.

the width is definitely something I thought about, but I do have a giant lot at my gym and it wouldn’t be an issue. Same with at home. So I will be okay. The track hawk would be amazing, but sadly it doesn’t weigh over 6000lbs so no tax benefits for me there. Hence the desire for the TRX
