I'm curious on this one. Is this a problem on all cars with an 8.8" rear and ~450+ HP or is this generation of car particularly bad concerning differential temp?

It's the IRS cars and I believe in 2018 they added a temp sensor to the diff which will trigger a limp mode if the fluid gets too hot. Pushing a car on a road course for 20 minute sessions is likely the only time you'd notice it.

I understand the limp mode issue, I was interested in the actual temps involved. Maybe everyone was just ignorantly bliss before the sensor and the threshold temp is unnecessarily conservative? If so, a sensor defeat resistor would be an easy 'fix'.

I think the torsen diff might be a factor. I've used these in other cars in the past & they're a bit of a power hog, especially in long, sweeping corners. They never really 'lock-up' like a ramp & plate style diff. They're always active & differentiating, which creates a lot of heat. Now we're left trying to get rid of that heat. The real answer might be to get rid of the source.

I don't think the car would move all that well with the 2 helical drive gears removed... :)

Ummmmmm....right. Very well, then.

I bet the diff would stay cool, though.

If interested in the system I'm using, Email Peter Agapoglou directly at AutoSport <[email protected]>
All I got was a PayPal invoice. That's great, I got the price but I had other questions they didn't answer. Maybe you can answer them for us. Is there any kind of manual control or does it just kick on at a certain temp? I presume it doesn't run all the time, correct?

FYI, the Autosport one is about the same as FTB. Be curious about any differences.

One difference I found. FTB comes with the lines and fittings ready to go and I was told you have to do your own fittings with Autosport.
