Hey guys I need some troubleshooting assistance here. I installed a JLT CAI and Bama Performance 93 octane tune about 2 months ago. A bit after the install, I decided I wanted to see actual power numbers, so I got my car on the dyno. My understanding was that the stock 2018 GTs with the 10r80 were making about 405-415 at the wheels stock and the JLT CAI should be worth about 20hp with a tune. My dumbass didn't think it was worth the money to get any stock runs since there were so many examples available on the internet. Below are the dyno results.

Not at all what I was expecting, and wtf is that weird dip at ~5250 rpm? I got back with Bama Performance and sent in some data logs. Over the next month we've gone through about 8 different iterations of the tune until they finally say it looks good. They kept adding in timing about every time so I was pretty hopeful that this would solve the problems. I got back on the dyno today and the numbers were somehow worse? I'm waiting on the dyno company to email me the graph, but 3 pulls were all consistently ~385whp and the same dip at ~5200 was still present. I datalogged the 3 pulls this time, and from my (very) basic understanding of what I'm looking at they look fine.

Seems like everyone stays away from Bama tunes now.

I realize dynos will vary. I dynod mine stock but it was December in ideal temps and put down 425/402.

I agree your tune seems off. Knock looks good so not likely bad fuel. It may be worth a look at another tuner. Lund and PBD gets good reviews here. I can personally attest to Shaun @ AED and many others reviewed him highly as well. My last pull in 112 heat was 460/414. Will hopefully be looking at even better numbers in better temps and doing something with stock air box and filter.

Ran Bama tune, not a bama fan. Switch to another tuner was worth .2-.3 tenths 2-3 mph. I think you have your answer...

One word. Lund. Honestly, though that dip is very weird, my 18 is a stick car but even with a CAI and no tune I put down 440 and 403tq down in Miami which is hotter than hell itself.

Maybe you should try running a roll race against a stock car to see what the real world results are before dropping more money. At least you would get some kind of answer before moving on to another tuner.

A guy in our group ran a bama tune and also made less power than stock. It's honestly a junk tune .I'd give Shaun at AED a call or email and go with him. I've tried other tuners but always came back to AED since it gives me the best driving feel and numbers, every time.

What did you ever find out, just out of curiosity?

Get rid of BAMA, and get a tune from a good tuner. I recommend AED.

Did you pull the traction control plug or fuse 62?
Correct on fuse 62.

The one my finger is touching is the one you pull.

Take some logs with your device and log knock. Possibly knock is killing your power.
