I haven't put a lot of effort into seeing if others have been having problems.. but yeah, I guess with any first run of new design things, there is some potential for trouble. I knew that going in, but I just never imagined I'd get one that totally failed. I've had a lot of cars and just never experienced such a major failure before. btw - I am also in the PNW... need some weathertech floor mats? ha ha.

I did finally receive a buyback offer... of course, we're still having communication issues with the final steps and I've had to make several calls and stops to try to work through it, but I feel like I'm almost out of this situation at least.

I lost my ass on a few things unfortunately
-no $$ towards the PPF and opticoating I had applied (doh)
-minus 900ish for use charges for the milage (that's fair)
-I usually save a significant amount in taxes on a car via trade in (only paying tax towards the difference in value of the two cars..), so my new car cost me about ~4k more in taxes. poooooop.

it is what it is though, just happy to be almost done. they aren't shortchanging me or anything, they're going by the book / lemon law requirements.

Lol, their communication is VERY poor, even internally in their own department.

I picked up my replacement car a week ago, and I was emailed last night by the case handler, sending me me worksheet and asking for a copy of my drivers license and lien free title.

Replied back, basically saying that RAV(when on a conference call with myself, the dealer, and ford credit) told the dealership over a week ago that they had everything they needed to get the case done and closed. The dealer packet that RAV sent to my dealer contained a power of attorney releasing the title(once the old vehicle was paid off by RAV) to the RAV department. I told the case handler that If they need the title, that they should get in touch with ford credit, and that I have nothing to do with their end of the paperwork.

It shows online that my case is closed, and I received emails (from the caseworker) saying that there is nothing else needed, and "thanks for being a ford customer"

What a laughable joke. I honestly think the next "fun" vehicle I own will be with a different manufacturer.

There sure are a lot of buy backs lately.
What defines "a lot"? How many have there been so far? I'm only on this forum, no FB or anything.

Ok. So maybe "a lot" was just a gross exaggeration? lol. What, I think Ford has sold probably close to 40k 2018 Mustangs by now. Assume 60% of the sales are GT , thats what around 24k GT's driving around with the new gen3 and we have one hands worth of fingers with issues and buy backs... come on yall... lol.

I feel bad for those that actually have an issue but the dealers have told them that the rattle was normal.

Sadly this is a Ford mandate, try to get the customer to believe they don't have an issue and maybe they'll go away.

Not a recipe for long term buyers for sure but all car companies seem to do this until a problem has been proven. Like the Focus trans issues, Ford swept it under the rug until they were forced to deal with it, there are still a lot of them out there with the faulty trans running around because people don't get informed before going to the dealer.

Its easy to take that approach when YOU dont have the problem, but its a f'n nightmare when you do. Dont water down the severity of the problem unless you've gone through it. Besides, your solely using this forum as your source for failures.....come on.

This board is a small representation of the amount of Mustangs sold. I am sure there are more with the issue. I wonder how many others are being bought back.

Its true it sucks when its you no doubt. But it jist dosent seem to be any more widespread then other manufactures cars, they all have some percent of failures. Only time will tell what the numbers are.

Count yourself lucky i had a 93 vette engine go with less then 2k miles. And a 01 ram truck with 10k miles let a rod fly it happens sadly.

:lol::headbonk:

I just got the initial letter that they were supposed to send me a couple of months ago, just an initial bit of paperwork saying I am agreeing to a refund. This was supposed to preface a lot of the other things we've done, but for whatever reason, they couldn't figure out how to send it to me in the mail.

the offer is dated for the 2nd, but just showed up today (21st..). the offer also states I have 14 days from the letter's date to accept it or they will assume I rejected it .. well gee that's going to be a little challenging.

I've also been calling and emailing my case rep for the past two weeks with no response. this is probably the 3rd or 4th time my case manager has randomly gone rogue on me.

I feel like they are intentionally trying to screw up every step of the process.

they already gave me a partial refund check (the amount owed to me after paying off my loan), which wasn't supposed to happen until after I signed the car back over to them..

nothing is happening in the right sequence or in any sort of timely manner. it's a total shit show of a process, and one I hope none of you have to go through :|
