I’d like to see comparison pics (if possible) of the fluid level at cold and hot between the original S550 10R80 dipstick and this eBay unit.

The F150 and S550 have entirely different markings and fluid levels.

I don't know how to post links. I barely know how to post pictures. Just go to ebay and look for ford f150 dipstick 22200. There are several for sale.

I didn't take any pictures of the factory dipstick level hot or cold vs this new one. Didn't think about it. Too late now.

This dipstick will work. This is the exact same one as the B&M but is $35 on ebay. I have a 12v pump that has a semi rigid tube that will reach through the dipstick tube all the way into the pan so pumping fluid out & back in is simple.

Hey @Brokestang, or others who have made this modification...I have a question about the normal transmission fluid level with the engine off and trans fluid temp cold.

With the engine off and transmission "cold" does trans fluid overflow out the plug/dipstick hole when removing the plug to complete this mod?

When I did this I did remove the cap & dipstick with the engine off & cold transmission. But this was the factory fill & come to find out it was about 1.75 quarts low. So with the correct amount of fluid I don't know if it would come out when removing the dipstick cap dead & cold. I know that the fluid level is just short of very top of the aftermarket dipstick when dead & cold with the proper amount of fluid in it.

Wish I had found this thread a week ago !!!

So I can definitely answer the question about will fluid come out of the factory dipstick when the engine / 10R80 is cold, The answer is definitely NO. I own a 2022 Mach 1 A10, Handling Package.

I just evacuated sucked out all my ATF last week, dropped the pan, changed the filter refilled it, then drove it for 30 minutes to get the ATF to 200 degrees, and had to add another 1/2 to 3/4 quart to get to the Level 4 mark.

Bought essentially $210 worth of fluid pumps one 8L Mightyvac MV7300 to suck the fluid out and then a 1 gallon Motive Pro fluid tank with the tire stem and valve so I could put 25 psi on the tank and pump the fluid back in. Took out 7.5 quarts total with filter, had to put just over 8 quarts back in to get to the 4 marker.

I have been working on my own cars for 40 years, this is the worst design I have ever seen. Purchased welding gloves which were too bulky to unscrew the cap, ended up using 12 inch needlenose pliers with the 90 degree bend on the end. To have to try and do this next to a catalytic converter running at 450 to 500 degrees is .... well you fill in the word(s).

I'll be shopping eBay for the dipstick kit after dinner.

So there's quite a few to choose from, they all look like they are the same knock off design... Here's a description from the one I'll likely order when I get home from Watkins Glen, heading out Sunday for 2 track days with SCDA:

If you copy and paste the description below into the eBay search field, a bunch should come up. I am going to buy from a seller who has 99.5% feedback or better and whose sold a bunch of these.

Locking Automatic Transmission Dipstick Tube A&E 22200 for Ford F-150 2010-2023

I figure, I haven't really wasted any time, as I would have wanted to know that I got my A10 filled to the correct level between 4 and 5 on the factory dipstick, then when I install this kit, I can make mark on the new dipstick

I thought someone said it was to long? I mean i just had Ford Prtformance team at my local Ford replace my fluid. I guess I will modify, shorten maybe make support bracket measure when at correct temp and mark the.lines.

Look at the photos Brokestang put in Post #24 of this thread. That is this same kit he installed. Doesn't look excessively long to me. He tie wrapped it right next to the passenger side Shock Tower. Maybe could be 6 - 8 inches shorter, but I am going to give it a try. My dealer wanted $550.00 plus taxes to service my 10R80 drain, filter and fill. I am not paying that much every track season.

Great timing, @cjatrains, resurrecting this thread. I am installing my dipstick today. The knockoff I purchased appears to be 12mm too short for the reading to correlate to what the stock "dipstick" measures. Based on previous statements in this thread, it may be the Chinese supplier(s) may not have a good handle on their process to manufacture a consistent length.
My task today in ambient 90 degree heat with an engine and transmission up to operating temp is to not only put the new dipstick in, but to find a way to ensure direct correlation between OEM and the aftermarket offering. Thanks for the idea of bent, long needle nose pliers @cjatrains.

Transmission dipstick 1, Snakebyte 0.
I watched a video of a guy routing 3/8 drive extensions to up through the engine bay and loosening from the top. Not happening with my strut brace arrangement.
Next attempt...obtain a 19mm crowfoot and attempt to loosen from below.

I hear you on that. I hate the things manufactures do to force owners to bring their car into the dealership for things most owners could normally do themselves. Replacing radiator coolant was hard on my Yukon for GM removed the drain plug which meant you were going to make a huge mess removing the bottom hose to drain. Or no drain plug on the differentials or transmission pans. I will buy one and go from their. Thank you for letting me know.
