DI injects during compression and cools the air/fuel mixture, reducing the chance of detonation, and this allows you to increase the compression ratio over a non DI engine. DI allows engines like the 991 GT3 have near 13.0:1 CR. Same reasoning why DI is especially used on the newer turbocharged engines. Boost, like CR, can be increased to a higher ceiling before detonation. Carbon buildup isnt an issue if you have a port injector too like the Lexus 3.5 and 5.0 engines have.$300 is a steal of a price. Even local guys that do side work want $500-600 around these parts. I guess it depends on the car but something like a B7 RS4, it actually takes an entire day to do it. Its really tedious work. I hate DI with a passion and I just get annoyed when its added for no reason. Like I said the only really benefit I see is a few extra MPGs. At the end of the day people aren't buying mustang GTs based on its gas mileage ratings.
