Still here, enjoying the discussion :-)
All I need to know is am I saving for a Z package C7 or a GT350. I will be beating it at the track like it owes me money. Can you at least point me in a direction, oh wise one??

I don't think you can go wrong with either one. :usa:

How about Ecoboost Mustang for cruising around the streets and Z06 for ripping up the track.

I agree with that. I have a boss now and I love it. I really love the effort ford put in on it. The new C7Z Z package looks like a little brother of a GT3 car with it's features and potential. I know no times have come out yet but, we road racers know what it's going to do and will probably be above our expectations. My guts telling me that the GT350 will laugh at the Z28 and be more in competition with the C7Z ( did I dare say a mustang will compete with a vette?) and that Ford has gotten their fingers on one to play with and try to make their plans better than. I'm planning on trading the boss in towards whichever one tickles my fancy more. I want something such as the boss, just on a lot of steroids, but still has AC etc unlike the Z28.

Was just at Thunderhill Raceway on Friday and there happened to be a C7 Z51 and Mustang parked next to eachother. It was the first time I had seen a C7 in person (considering it as a potential replacement for my 350Z, along with the GT350 Mustang (or whatever the SVT version will be called)). Based on walking around the cars for several minutes, here are my impressions:
C7 is very low, and not terribly roomy inside. The center console is pretty high, as are the door sills. The interior wasn't confining, but definitely not as open as my 350 or the Mustang (or even older Vettes). The interior of the C7 was very, very well done. The car was a 1LT (which is the base version) and it looked fantastic. Certainly good enough for my purposes.

In comparison the Mustang looked very tall and very large. I know the 2015 is lower, but I have a hard time believing it will be close to the Vette from a CG standpoint. I suspect the Vette will corner better and probably accelerate better due to having more power. I do think the Vette's ratios are a bit too far apart for track duty, but with all that torque it's not a huge disadvantage. I like that the Mustang has rear seats, but it does seem a bit large compared to the Vette.

I am always very impressed with the Mustangs and Vettes at the track, but the C7 in person was stunning. I've liked them since they were revealed, but it was pretty eye opening to see one in person. I hope the new Mustang has a similar effect. And if the HiPo version is anywhere close to the C7 or Z28 we'll be in great shape.

I wouldn't underestimate the Z28. It is faster than the Nissan GTR on the track despite being slower on the straight. And to say the GT350 will be competitive to the C7 Z07 is somewhat naive. And given the price of the GT350 will be around $52K, that will be a tall claim.

Well going by the brakes in the spy shots, the "totally new suspension" as DMV has said before, weight and engine speculations, why wouldn't it be able to surpass the Z28? Ford had enough and built the coyote and road runner. I highly doubt at this point they're going to just say "meh, we tried". Maybe I'm getting my hopes up with it being in the same area as a C7Z with the Z package, but that's why I asked for a hint.

I hope your willing to wait as I think it is going to be a while before we get any solid info on performance specs for the gt 350 or whatever it ends up being called.

I'm ok waiting, no worries. I just want some small direction. Like "yes, you'll want to wait. It'll be worth it" or "ehh, c7z is a bit hardcore compared to the gt350 so that's that".

The Z28 is knowhere near as fast as the GTR on a road course. Hell the Z28 had trouble beating the ZL1 at the Ring.

That's because the GTR is garbage in anything other than highway pulls and around town jerking around.

We've seen one comparison. While it's in the Z28's favor, it's so close the spread will be large between the skill of driver driving each vehicle, track and conditions.
