LS1 car against an EB isn't a death sentence, but you better have a tune. The truth a lot of people don't want to accept is the EB is going to hurt a lot of feelings. It's not much of a threat in stock form but there are MULTIPLE EB cars deep in the 12's with nothing but bolt ons and a tune. Quite a few in the 12.3's and lower. I applaud Ford for giving us another option to put in work on the street/track/and local weekly meet. Good times to be a Mustang guy.

No doubt. The EB fast list is a hair away from their first bolt on 11 second slip. Should see a few soon with that nice cool fall air coming.

Fast ford and muscle mustang also posted 12 second runs in a story called know your enemy as far as published numbers go! There's not a stock EB on earth anywhere close to running in the 12s. I don't bench race. I hit the track a couple times a month and the EB doesn't stand a chance against an LS1 powered car with equal drivers. Or as you put it two average drivers. The good news for the 4 banger guys, it only takes a few mods to make LS1 power.

Last time I mentioned the LS1 cars under Evan Smith the fanboys stated the car wasnt bone stock and by default that Evan SMith is a liar.

For those other than fanboys the consensus is that LS1 cars with a great driver on a prepped track could run high 12s. There was another guy who would get 12s too but I forget his name. Plus there were other forum members posting 12s.

Im not taking anything from the Ecoboost cars but stock for stock the LS1 is faster. Who knows how many bonestock , and also in good state of tune LS1 cars are running around now. The ones I would see at Atco last year were all modded.

Thats a little more believable. The full bolt on EBs should be breaking into the 11s soon. Maybe a few have already done it and haven't posted on the forums.

Youd be incredibly wrong about that. A stock EB doesn't stand a chance against an LS1 with equal drivers.
And why would that be? Two cars weighing close to the same weight, having close to the same HP/torque are going to be fairly close and that is why i said it would be a drivers race.

With equal drivers the Camaro will have a slight edge assuming the engine is still up to snuff and that is a big assumption considering a 2002 Camaro is 13 years old and most likely has around 100,000 miles on it.

LS1s were making 290-300+ to the wheels. And they weighed 3300-3400 lbs.

Im with you on the age of those cars. Who knows what state of tune they are now in. The majority of them have to be questionable.

I don't race a guy assuming his car doesn't run right. My 95 had over 100k when I pulled the 302 and put the forged 363 with a 300 shot in its place. You'd never assume you were racing a car with 900hp. If you seen my GT. Why would you assume just because the camaro was old it was beat? You don't race much. I get where your coming from. If you go strictly by magazine stats you'd assume both cars would be close. But I'm telling you. Take all the assumptions out of the picture and the LS1 is beating up on the EB.

Ecoboost is close in power stock for stock, but the z28 still beats it.

AND the z28 is a couple hundred pounds lighter.

Stock, the 2002 v8 should whoop the 2015 4 banger.

not just from the slight power advantage, but the significant weight advantage also.

Mine made around 240hp to the wheels and weighed around 3,600lbs. I owned a 2000 and a 2001. Ditched the 2001 when a bone stock 2005 GT with a auto pulled me by a car length.....
