I'm just worried about having my car sitting in the shop with less than 300 miles with the dealer not knowing whats going on. I want a EB mustang bad, but dont want to have it sit a the dealership for months getting fixed.
Definitely would be a nightmare. I really dont want that to happen, I dont want to make payments on a car that I can't drive.

I filled up with 91 chevron and reset the code. Drove about 25-30 miles with no light. Hopefully it'll stay unlit. Here's to another 200 miles.

btw, it's not just EB mustangs there are GT stangs with this same weird CEL light and i think i read it was a sensor or some plug. I'm not entirely sure though but it definitely doesn't sound like an actual engine malfunction specific to the ecoboost engine. The car actually runs fine.

Aside from that, the car is getting smoother everyday as I break it in. 2nd gear was a little stiff when I first drove the car and now it's already slipping in nice and smoothly. I cannot wait for the breakin period to over I have yet to see anything above 4k RPM.

Yeah, I wouldn't worry. Over 10k miles on my EB already. Never had a check engine light and runs great *knock on wood*.

Probably just dealer gas. Run it down and put some tier one premium gas in there. Throw some octane booster in too if you feel like it

For months? Let's not be dramatic. If you had a problem it shouldn't take more than a couple days at the most to have it fixed. Its not like this is the first EB engine.

I had my dealer fill mine up with Premium before I took delivery btw. Just because I didn't want less power for my first full week with the car though

I only get 91 here in CA but maybe I'll just do that. I have no assurance that the dealership filled it up with anything higher than 87. They didnt charge me for gas. But based on the threads with the same problems, no one has posted why this is occurring.. agh
They did charge you for gas, about $57. Check your invoice

Nope, I made sure to check when I was at the dealer cause I fully expected them to charge me. No charge for gas :D

Break in? LOL.
The owners manual does say to take it easy on it for the first 1k miles (maybe 500 miles, can't remember). It specifically says to vary the rpms and to not drive the car in a way to put a big load on the engine.

Now, would it hurt it to do so? Probably not, but that is what they recommend, lol.

I always break in engines the same way...WOT. There are still many theories about "proper" break-in technique, but the days of babying an engine for a certain amount of miles are essentially over.

Why do you say that? I read another break-in method which is essentially the opposite of babying it, it was to run it hard from the get-go. From what I read in rebuttal, that's only for racing purposes for max HP or something, not longevity. Idk, it's my first new car off a dealer's lot, it's a first gen and it's force induction with not much info out there. I'd rather take it easy and let the internal parts break into their regular motions before I put a beating on it.

Granted the manual doesn't really say 4k RPM or WOT, it says not to labor the engine. So guessing any higher RPM or flooring acceleration is part of that. Definitely not towing and no 6th gear @45mph flooring it uphill. lol

It will be a long break-in for sure...

Advances in metallurgy have essentially made the long break-in a dead tradition. The engines are broken in when they are started for the first time. As soon as it gets lube, the rigs seat and seal....it is ready.

Just because you aren't seeing the check engine light come on doesn't mean your car isn't throwing out error codes. I'm having the same issue and I had my cel reset then, went for a ride along with the tech at the dealer and saw the engine throwing out error codes on his laptop but, the check engine light was not on. Your engine has to throw out the codes several times before a check engine light will come on again. Best of luck at the dealer.

Please update us on what the dealers finds. Thanks!

I just got my first misfire, any other suggestions other than putting in good gas? I have 94 here in my city and filled it up and cleared the code. Hope it stays off. Should I swapped out the plugs for iridium ones once break in is done?
