I had my A10 built, new clutches and all the goodies, also circle d. They did the thermal bypass on the valve body. With outside air less than about 85 it would cool when causing into the 140-150 range. Above 85ish it would climb on the highway, I got off when the temp was going above 220. It looked like it was not going to stop. Probably combination of the smaller radiator, vortech intercooler, and AC running it just couldn't catch up. I had a stacked plated cooler that is about a quart or so larger than stock installed and I also opened up my lower grill (bullet style ebay). Now hot days it cools into the lower 130s range.

You’ll get some ideas from there on what works best.

Midnight installed it. I believe rather than waiting until 200 to route fluid to the cooler fluid always goes to the cooler.

Not sure if I misunderstood but do you mean that even with the bypass your trans fluid got up to 220 (when ambient temps were above 85)?
I'm building a trans and planning to do the bypass delete as well but not sure if I need to upgrade the stock trans cooling system.
If I'm upgrading will likely have something similar to @CORNYOTE's setup with a rear mounted cooler and 160 tstat

Something was wrong with that trans. I would recommend a mishimito external trans cooler if you delete. The 160 tstat keeps or around 170. Without when it was cold, in Houston I was seeing low or maybe even below 100. The trans needs some heat.
