I've seen this before in other vehicles. If you have a really low 1st gear in a stick. The throttle is sensitive, and the force required to move the accelerator is minimal. If your foot moves do so some force (bump in the road, acceleration g, etc) it changes the force you are applying, then you try to compensate and get into a loop. Similar thing happens in airplanes, called a pilot induced loop; sometimes in response to a disturbance or sometimes completely self induced.
My car has the PP1 package with the bigger rear diff, could that be adding to it too? Sorry if that’s a stupid question, just something I’ve thought about.

I’ve searched through a number of threads including the A10 list of issues but couldn’t find anything like what I’m experiencing.

I just got my 2021 GT last month and it’s a blast to drive. That said, I’ve come across an issue and am trying to figure out if it’s a common characteristic of the A10, or if I need to get it checked out.

Whether I’m in automatic shifting or paddle shifting, and in normal or sport mode, if I’m feathering the throttle (driving in parking lot or in traffic) the transmission seems to buck in 3rd or 4th gear between 2 to 3 thousand RPMs. It’s actually really uncomfortable as the driver and it causes a lot of bucking feeling until I hit the throttle and get it out of that RPM range. It doesn’t do it all the time, but it’s annoying as hell when it happens. Is this normal? I have a service appointment next week but don’t want to come off like a dumbass. Thanks in advance!
Aren't Mustangs supposed to buck?? 😳

I don't think that's normal. Many of these trannys seem to be low on fluid because of the difficulty checking and filling.

I need to get my PP1, A10r80 on the lift to verify. It has some shifting characteristics I think could improve. After I drove it 1000 miles it has improved after resetting it.

Be sure and let it warm up. I keep it in normal mode till it warms. Mechanical shift solenoids.

I think it is throttle sensitivity. I wouldn't worry about it unless you know for certain the application of force is constant/accelerator position is constant. This is easily logged for all those who think it is the tranny and not them.

Just curious on how this turned out for you? I just recently picked a new one up and am experiencing the same thing. Mostly in Sport+ mode and trying to feather the throttle while turning over uneven pavement. Almost like the tension of the throttle lessens and causes my foot to bounce on the throttle.

It’s the weirdest thing. I made an appointment with my dealer but of course they were booked like 3 weeks out. Between the time I booked and a few days before the issue just went away on its own. I’m not sure if it was the transmission adapting to me driving the car a bit more aggressively since I was getting more used to it, but I haven’t had it happen to me now in a few months.

Cool. For me, I feel like if I drive around in normal mode that I can control it well enough. I only have about 1100 miles on mine and am hoping it will resolve over time because I would like to be able to drive around town (and my crappy roads) in Sport+.

I did unplug my battery for about an hour and a half yesterday but I still noticed it happened a couple times in Sport+ today (making low speed turns on uneven pavement of course).

Yeah I found a thread from a few years ago I wish I could find but the advice was to give the transmission time to get it to adapt. Especially if you start off kind of gentle (like me coming from a wrx I didn’t want to end up in a tree) and occasionally give it throttle the transmission doesn’t always react the way you want it to. I’ll see if I can find the thread that went over it, but that seemed to be what my issue was. I’m now at about 4000 miles and that issue is totally gone.

I had it happen in Sport+ mode once, maybe twice within the first 100 miles…My opinion is that is was a combination of trans not having enough to time to ā€œlearnā€ AND my big size 15 foot ā€œsympatheticallyā€ adding power after the initial ā€œbuckā€ starting off for a red light / turn…..

I am careful in Sport+ mode to ā€œcommitā€ to adding power……no throttle feathering……I switch to Normal for parking lot maneuvers…….

Sometimes mine wants to keep accelerating, like in traffic if you get on it and let off right away, i dont think there is anything they can do, just scary its revving when off accelerator.

Normal if it's the same thing I have on my 21 and had it on my 17'.... during real low , low speeds, either lift your foot up or put your foot down another inch, nothing in the middle when this happens, you're unstable foot is what usually starts this bucking as with mine.
Cancel your appointment and go drive another different car you'll see it's all of them. Got to have a stable foot.

Yeah, that doesn't sound good. Luckily, I have not experienced that specific issue.

That description is what I am experiencing, the problem is that having a stable foot wouldn't be an issue on decent roads.

Having had sports cars for over 20 years, including 5th/6Th Gen Camaro's and C7's, driving on the exact same roads I had never experienced this, not even one time.

In a way I am glad that it is sounding like it isn't something wrong with the car but it still seems like a crazy thing to have to deal with (enough so that if someone is driving with you that they look at you like WTH), lol.

I definitely think it is throttle sensitivity. It is particularly noticeable on A10, PP1 cars in Sport+ mode. The stiffer chassis, lower rear gear ratio and increased throttle sensitivity combine to create a "feedback loop" of the foot on the pedal under light throttle while traveling over rough pavement. I experienced this same phenomenon on my '21 GT A10 PP1 occasionally. I don't believe it has anything to do with the A10. I believe it is a "quirk" of the digital throttle programming and pedal sensor on the car as built.

Yep, and easy to prove. Just plant the foot.
