My prior 2016 S550 (Ford Buy Back) had more than 100 miles put on it during it’s warranty visits... not once, but quite a few times. Hell, I put 3,000 miles on a brand spanking new 2017 Ford Explorer, not to mention the other “gifted” loaners I had during that time period... including a brand new 2017 Ford Fusion with less than 90 miles on it where on the first loaned day, a teenage newbie driver plowed right into the back of it...

100 miles is not by any means excessive... depends on the repair and if the Tech has to report his repairs to the Shop Foreman, who may also need to drive the vehicle to confirm all repairs were satisfactory before releasing to the customer.

Just earlier this year, my 2018 had to get the 10R80 diagnosed for the harsh shift issues, which resulted in a valve body replacement. The first day I dropped off the Mustang, I was given a brand new 2020 Ford Explorer ST as a loaner and when I returned it, I had racked up over 2,100 miles on their Explorer..

I think 100 miles is a lot. 20-50 should be more enough but what do I know. I would be talking to them about 100 miles though.

If they were trying to do a A10 reflash, after the software is deleted and then updated, it is required to drive the car through a relearning procedure that takes more than 30 minutes of specific cycles. I know this since the tech gave me the printed out factory procedure for me to perform on my own 2018 GT to reset the transmission. I did the test drive as called for and it worked. It is like a new car.....amazing and no wrenching!
what did you have to do?

Doesn't a KAM reset take about 100-200 miles to get the fuel trims right?

At face value it seems excessive but that could be split between the drive to diagnose the car and a follow up drive to make sure everything is okay.

When my engine was swapped, the servive rep told me that the tech and himself were instructed to drive my car separately to double check everything.

I don’t think it’s excessive. The shop
was being diligent at trying to duplicate
your concerns.

I would rather have that versus having the
technician driving around the block and
saying all is ok.
