Saw another thread about this, but about the ecoboost. I'm looking at getting a GT so I was curious.

It's strictly going to be a daily driver. Won't ever see a track. Won't be doing any real mods, except maybe exhaust.

The PP is appealing to me because of all the extra bits, especially the wheels. Love the look of those. And it might be a dumb reason but I like the idea of the car being more "maxed out" if that makes sense. But I'm just wondering if it's actually an actual improvement for daily driving. Can anybody comment? Specifically about how "harsh" the ride is with the suspension tuning and the shifting with the 3.73s.

Also, side note. Is the auto tranny really that bad? If I were to not get the PP, I'd possibly consider the auto. Thoughts?

The auto-trans is actually great from what I hear.

You will shift more, yes. Think about it this way, people are selling the PP wheels alone for $1,200-1,800 with tires, thats over half the cost of the entire PP upgrade alone. Ride is not harsh at all.

It rides stiffer and needs to be shifted more, or u can skip gears when just cruising..I'm biased as I have the PP and IMHO it was a no brainer. They value of parts you get for the price is awesome. Either way PP or not you'll be happy.

I highly recommend the PP. I have the same car usage you do it sounds like and the PP is still worth it. The gears are shorter but off the line this thing is a beast! I'm sure the other transmissions are as well but coupled with the 275 summers... the fuel economy drops slightly but I still average 24.8 on long highway cruises with some spirited pulls thrown in frequently.

The PP gives you a huge amount of "bang for the buck" over the normal GT with the manual transmission. Not just the big items like tire & wheels & brakes, but also little things like the two dash mounted gauges and chassis stiffener bracing and 3.73 gearing. The list goes on and on. Different front air dam, different plastic pieces underneath the engine that makes changing the oil filter easier, bigger radiator. Probably several things I left out.

That said, if you are considering the automatic, none of that matters because it is simply not available.

I had to get an automatic due to a knee problem but if I had been able to get a standard, PP would have been my only option.

I'm not really considering the auto that much. I'm actually learning to drive manual so that I can buy this car. But if it turns out that the PP isn't good for my needs, then the auto would possibly be an option.

But it sounds like the PP is worth it.

The auto is great with the 3.55 rear in mine. PP is great too - you can't go wrong in my opinion.

For all the reasons mentioned above, I would seriously consider springing for the PP. I can't imagine my car without this package.

Yes, I beleive the ride is a little stiffer, but the handling is supposedly better. I say supposedly b/c I haven't driven a non-PP GT.

As for the 3:73 gears, yes, they're pretty short, so you have go thru them fairly quickly. But I've not only gotten use to this, I actually enjoy it. It keeps me more in touch with actually driving/handling/contolling this high hp, high torque beast. And I enjoy having torque almost always readily available, even if I'm puttin' along at what would seem to be rpms and speed that are too low for a particular gear. Just give her gas and she goes. No need to downshift as much.

You're gonna love this car, whatever you decide.

I highly recommend test driving both a non-PP and PP back2back. I test drove the PP first and loved the ride quality and planted feel the car had. As soon as I started driving the non-PP right after that there were two glaring differences

1. The classic Mustang body-roll and floatiness, was immediately noticeable on the non-PP. This wasn't the case on the PP at all. Non-PP feels like oldschool muscle, while PP feels like a sports car in a muscle cars body.

2. The non-PP is much much easier to drive in terms of gearing. Shifts feel smoother and feel more natural to driving in traffic than the aggressive PP gearing.

Ultimately I think you have to decide if the dramatically improved handling is worth the unnatural feeling gears. Personally, I'm making the decision that it is worth it and I'm just going to hope that 3.73s will become livable after a few thousand miles.

I didn't get the PP. I don't like the black painted wheels that come with it. Mine came with better looking wheels (19 inch) IMHO. I drove a Mustang with a PP and without and I couldn't tell the difference other than it's a little stiffer in the turns. But as far as overall performance I didn't see a difference so for me I didn't see it as a justification for paying $2500 extra. I like the fact that my dash board doesn't have the 2 small gauges on them that come with the PP. I like having the extra air vent for my AC... I'm gonna need it come summer time.

Base C7 Suspension was stiff

GT/PP is a vacation lol not in a bad way.

I did some very rough numbers. The PP is around $7k to $8k in parts alone. I couldn't imagine my car without it. Not saying non-PP cars are bad it would just not be for me.

Also if you live somewhere with snow dont let the summer tires scare you. Heck instead of spending close to $2k rims and winter meat and worrying about swapping them I grabbed a Bronco for $2500.

Go with the PP it's literally a steal.

Personal decision. For me it wasn't worth it, and I'm happy with the decision. Others love their PP. I think it's really about how you are going to drive it, and what you are expecting.

Before I placed my order I drove a GT PP with standard transmision then a GT without PP automatic. It was night and day difference for me - and a no brainer to order the GT PP with standard transmission. I hated the black wheels so I bought some wheels that I like and sold the OEM black wheels. I'm totally happy with my choices - I love the car - if I were to order today, I'd place exactly the same order.
