With 2 upcoming track days it was time to install my Schroth ASM 4 point Harness.

http://www.schrothracing.com/tuning/rallye/rallye-4

My car is a EB with PP and Recaros.

I've installed this harness on a few cars before that come with factory Recaros and have had no complaints. This is a 4 point harness that bolts into your oem bolt holes.

It has a quick release tail strap so that you can still have people in the back seat when not using the harness.

Onto the install.

Tools needed
T50 Torx
Flat head Screwdriver
Soldering Iron with Hot Knife
1/2 inch or 3/8 inch ratchet with extension
Blue loctite

Step one remove this trim above the mustang panel.

Step two, Remove the bottom bench seat, on each side there is a button under the cushion in between where your legs would be if you were sitting in the seat. Push the button and then lift up the seat, then simply pull it out.

This is what you will see now.

Step Three, pull this seat belt guide off, this comes out very easily, you can then put the belt behind the panel. This will come apparent soon.

Step Four, Now start pulling this panel towards you. Theres a handful of clips but it wont take too much effort to take the complete panel off. In the area where the shoulder strap bolts to the floor there is Velcro, so keep that in mind

Step five
Undo the 4 T50 Torx bolts as well as the electrical connection under the seat.

Step six, You can now remove the seat and access the buckle. You will have to unbolt the T50 Torx and put the new harness lap belt in between the oem buckle bracket and the seat frame. I recommend adding blue Loctite on this bolt.

Step seven, bolt the seat back in and remove the T50 bolt closest to the front of the car. This will be used as the left hand lap belt mounting point.

Step eight, put the rear panel back in, you will have to make a relief for
the harness that you just installed. I used a soldering iron with a hot knife attachment.

Step 9, I chose to use the two bolt holes from the child restraints since they will line up with the seat better. I removed the child seat bracket although you can leave it. As you can see the bolts are same size as the rear buckles so I'm not worried about strength.

Step 10
Buckle the two tail leads together, and adjust the belts. I recommend to make the lap belt tight before you adjust the shoulder straps.

And that's it!

This system is good for legal road use as well as track use where a FIA certification is not needed.

Any comments or recommendations please feel free to comment. This is my first time installing this system on a 2 door which is quite different from my past installations.

Hope this helps!

Very unique design solution to keep the use of rear seats. One safety question though: shouldn't the belts come out of the back of the seat at less than 30 degrees?

Thanks guys

On the 3 point version yes, you would bolt it to the rear shoulder belt. On the 4 point it wants a lower mounting point. With the 4 point it's relying on seat back strength in an accident. Since its a Recaro I'm not too concerned.

Thank you for the step-by-step. Made it a lot easier to install my harness!

Only point that you could clarify a tiny bit is the mounting to the outboard seat belt bolt, you said "forward" which is correct, but I hadn't pulled the trim out far enough to see the back one. Maybe a slightly more wide shot of that bracket. Else the lesson was FANTASTIC!!

Thanks xXANCHORMONXx. Awesome write-up and pics.:coolphotos:

I have been dealing with a twisted seatbelt issue (left hand lap belt mounting point) on the drivers side from the factory and I just didn't have time to spend on a warranty issue (show the service manager, appointment, and then leave your car in for service, etc.). Also, I didn't want the service guys at Ford to fix this issue as I was scared they were going to break something (panels, clips), and after seeing this thread, I was confident that I could do this.

This was a great write-up/pics to show how to remove the panels as I had to get to:
- STEP 7: I had to remove the two T50 bolts and then just untwist the belt in that area.

Bolted the two T50 back up and reinstalled the panels ... all good!!! No more twisted seatbelt. :headbang:

I went with Corbeau's retractable 3-point setup. After mocking it up, looks like I'll getting around 10" of travel. Which, should be plenty for normal use.

Since these will function as the stocks do, I will be removing the stock belts (F&R) and deleting the rear seats.

Hey everyone, I was looking through various threads on Harnesses as Scrothe apparently has a new "Quick Fit" for the 2005-2015 Mustangs. I wanted to check to see where they mounted them and one of the pictures in this thread caught my eye.

ANCHORMON, did you mount the rear straps to the child safety restraint locations? If so you may want to reconsider. That area of the floor pan is intended to hold the weight of a child in a child safety seat in the event of an accident. That is substantially weaker than the mounting points for the adult 3 point factory seat belt and there is a high probability that these mounts would fail in an accident.

When I installed my Schrothe Rallye3 I installed the rear mounting point on the outer most adult seatbelt mounting point. This mount was designed to take the stress and weight of an adult in an accident and not fail.

Any news/updates/truth to this.?

I was gonna order the same Schroth system as thr OP so I can have these 4 points for my next track outing... but am kinda discouraged when I see that the write-up points might not be the right ones.

Where are the "better for this application" bolt down points compared to the OP's if he didn't use the "correct" or "strong enough" points.

It looks like the directions diagram shows the mounting points identical to the OP's.... confusing.

Thanks!
