To be fair...there are much better blower setups available now than what you would have on those cars. More efficient designs and much larger intercoolers.
More power=more heat. Heat is your biggest enemy on track during a 20 minute session.

I have 1st hand experience with this when tracking the 2016 GT I had (mods in sig). Several others on this forum have battled it as well. A larger intercooler is going to reduce airflow through the cooling stack.

I really don't want to drop $10k plus for the supercharger and another $10k plus on cooling mods/cut the crap out of my car to make it work.

Not talking about power, but better intercoolers and supercharger designs in the current stuff than the Eaton units on those GT500s (like the newer GT500s have proven)

Intercooler on a PD is under (or over the supercharger), the heat exchanger is up front.

A lot of people say the centrifugals don't have that issue (and often people who haven't ran either one) but your experience proves otherwise.

It's definitely an investment and some work

Okay. But those of us who do track a GT PP have experienced overheating on track and the expense and time/trouble to overcome it. We don't want to make matters even worse, nigh impossible, with FI.

Solid data point, especially at 104F, that's exactly the condition where the factory returnless pump usually starves under sustained lateral G and heat soak, so a clean run across 5 sessions in that heat is a real test, not a lucky lap.

Worth flagging for anyone reading this who doesn't track their car: if you're street-only, the OEM pump is genuinely fine, this failure mode only shows up under sustained high-G cornering combined with high fuel temps, which street driving basically never produces.

The upgrade matters specifically for track days, not daily driving, so no need to swap it preemptively if you're not putting the car on track.

Exactly, I put that fuel pump in almost the worst possible conditions and it passed the test. At first, I had reservations forking out that much money, but it was worth every dime. My previous 2 track weekends were not fun because I was dealing with that fuel cut. I thoroughly enjoyed this weekend and I fell even more in love with my car.

I could not agree more.

Trying to track that procharged 2016 GT was not fun. I spent as much time looking at my gauges and worrying about heat management than I did looking at the track. Hence why I went to my GTI (before I bought the Mach 1) for track days. Sad thing is my VW GTI absolutely destroyed the GT on track, despite having half the HP.

The Mach 1, and really the GT, has enough power. If someone wants more power, E85 with a tune and LT's gives plenty. The real time improvements come with being able to consistently push hard for the 20 minutes and improving each lap and each time you go out. I prefer to put my $$$ in brakes, suspension, and tires so I can keep up with the supercars in the corners....and my car does.

Next mods for me really need to be safety. Cage/harness and some racing seats.

Man, you are really moving to be pulling a 1:24 at Hallett! I need to really step my game up...
Come out and play sometime!

This was a special VIP for a new Mustangs of Hallett club. They ended up inviting all car makes/models too. I'm taking my GTI this coming Saturday but will bring my Mach 1 for the October HST weekend. I hope to see/meet you there!

What club is this? I usually try to hit the VIP days - hopefully I can catch you at the October HST!

It's a new club that features Mustangs that go to Hallett. They are going to do an event once per year. They did a car show and a track day. Not a big turnout, but it was hot AF and I think I did more marketing for it than the actual organizer.

You could always come out this weekend! Another hot day (104 Saturday) but always fun. I'm hoping to make some Corvette owners 2nd guess their decisions when they point me by in my GTI.

How is your GTI faster than your MACH 1?

It isn't as fast as my Mach 1, but close. PR in that car is a 1:26.3 but I can definitely bring that down a bit with the front brake upgrade I just did and now my Potenza's have a few track days on them.
