Guys w/2018 up cars, did putting all 3 Race Louvers RT hood vents on stop the hood flutter? What else did you notice? Thank you.

I have a 22 MACH 1 W/HP
I think mustang‘s 2018 up have the same exact hood. And very similar engine compartment.

I know I have to do something to stop the hood flutter otherwise eventually the hinges or where the hinges connect to the car or the hood are going to fail.
And I would also appreciate the other benefits of the vents.

I just ordered the Race Louvers RT model vents. I know they have the RS and RX models also. Want to make sure that I picked the right one. I’m assuming having both the RT bilateral sides and the center RT vents, will allow the air being forced in through the front to come out through the hood instead of trying to force it its way out at the Windshield and underneath my car.

I am also expecting a noticeable decrease in engine compartment temperatures, and hopefully a decrease in the transmission temperatures on track and on really hot days.

Also hoping to notice improved downforce.

Did you have all the improvements with others?
Did you experience any negatives?

Thank you for experience.

Not to hijack the post, but i thought some pictures of the problem would be useful. This me at 160 MPH. Notice the gap between hood and fender. Latch is holding on for dear life.

I found if I twisted out the rubber stoppers on both sides of the hood that it tightened up the pressure on it and that really helped with the flutter I was getting

Zero flutter and certainly helped with temps. These vents with a small Mishi oil cooler and all my temps are under control (as long as it's under 90°F outside).

Which brand and model vents are these? Thank you.

I really do not want to cut the hood of my Mach 1 and the track I go to doesn't allow me to get to speeds where I've noticed hood flutter, but the Race Louvers on my other track car (2019 GTI) 100% have helped with temps. If I come across a FJG hood for sale, I may cut into it and use it for track days.

I designed a 7 louver side hood vent and it extracts quite a lot of heat. The front hood corners are a relatively lower pressure zone and so that is a good location. Other than the surface mount and fasteners it looks oem because it replaces the fake original vents. I made a couple extra sets in gloss and matte black. I like side hood vents because they don't interrupt stripes or M1 graphic in the center.

My 2016 car had hood flutter but my 2019 does not. I have been up to 147 max.

First try @laotiz suggestion of adjusting the rubber bumpers. I did that for my 2016 and it seemed to help a little.

I need these for my Mach 1! Are they a simple replacement for the stock vents or is there any cutting/drilling involved?

Obviously if you want true cooling you need vent area. So you will have to cut out the windows and drill the fastener holes. Most any tool will work, and it is easier than it would appear. You just have to work up the courage, lol.

This thread, Hood side vents , picks up with my design from the jump. Mine come with a an aluminum drilling template (not paper), too. Mine index to two of the OEM holes, which helps alignment a ton. @RobZ71LM7 will be installing a set on his Mach 1 soon.

BTW did you try out the Steeda camber gauge yet?

I did get the plates. Fast delivery and they are well made. Thank you!

Can you PM me the price for the vents?

Agree on the "working up the courage". I put Race Louvers in a spare hood on my GTI. Measure 50 times, cut once kind of thing.
