2016 GT-350 - Preferred Battery Tender setup? Brand/Model reccomendations?

Yeah, @DBM-Red-G2706 , good post and response. I appreciate it when we try to lower the temperature at this community, and I sometimes find myself scratching my head as to why crap-flinging starts so easily.

One other point. This site is now over 10 years old, and there really aren't that many "common" issues that haven't been discussed multiple times. Personally, I also don't care to see these issues posted as new threads, because there simply is no need, it contributes to site bloat, and it does come across as laziness on the poster's part. (Please try not to take offense, as we are all guilty of that.)

Noco Genius 5 and larger models warn if you have a sulfated battery and their 2-pin connector plug mounted at the fuse block junction looks like an OEM installation.

Just FYI, I charged the battery a couple days, reconnected fired her up and drove.

The recommended charger and cable showed up all

So I spied under the hood atop the passenger wheel well a nicely marked (+)(-). That looked perfect to attach a quick connect for a battery tender.

Since I'm an all-in (2016 GT-350 & 2007 GT-500) n00b in the Shelby life, I thought I'd ASK if this is a good idea and if there is a preferred brand/model tender.

My goal in life is to make new mistakes, not the same damn ones over and over...

I use BatteryMinder, tried others, they work the best for me. W/17 cars I need it! You can get 10-13 years out of a battery with BatteryMinder. They have many models and accessories.

Other cars I gave owned permitted one to simply plug the 12V charger into the cigarette lighter socket. willmthat work for the Shelby GT350? It would not work in other cars.

The best setup so far is that in my GTC where they designed an external magnetic port above the rear license plate area so you can plug in without even having to open a door.

Raise the hood and let the heat out while on the charger. All rubber components will thank you. Two birds with one stone. Works for me.

I have one of these that is old enough to drink, and it has been used on everything from race cars to motorcycles. It has terminal clamps, or you can buy pig tails to make it a plug in setup.

The actual answer to your question is that the car's electrical system shuts down the lighter plug about 45 minutes after the car is shut down. Presumably, that's to keep plugged-in equipment from draining the battery when the car's not in use.

Thanks. That is very interesting. I find it a little disappointing that more companies have not adopted the Bentley approach of a permanent magnetic external connection point, especially with a car like the GT350 that is absolutely going to be stored every winter In much of the country. A lighter port approach would be second choice, but a much more elegant and convenient option.

I have lost a lot of people recently and I am not getting any younger. So I decided WTF am I waiting for. These are the cars I have loved and always wanted - soon enough I will not be able to enjoy them. So this year a 2020 Conti GTC and a 2018 Shelby GT350. Someone else already took the depreciation hit and broke them in for me! I will take fewer vacations and leave the children a little less - no apology forthcoming.
