I recently bought a 2015 GT. It has Recaro seats. They don't fit by old butt. Does anyone know how hard it is to swap them for regular power seats? The Recaro are manual.

If its all manual first thing id look into is all the wiring, sometimes cars have everything there already installed at the assembly line just not hooked up and powered but if none of that is there your going to need to wire it all in install fuses etc, if none of the wiring is there id personally look into another manual seat. Best of luck

All GT’s base or premium should have the wiring harness for the power seat/air bag. They will not have the second harness for the heated/cooled seats or the memory module.

I just checked one my 2015s to confirm the plugs.
first image is the plug from under my recaro seat.

second image is the wire connection for the power seat and air bag harness on a 2015 GT
there of course is a second connection for the heat and ac
if you need more info I will pull my 2017 base model car out where I can open the door and get a picture from the base car.

again all GT’s from the factory have power seats driver and passenger As standard regardless of the recaro option so the harness should operate a standard power seats from a base car.

Also if you’re interested in swapping seats, I see you’re in Texas. I might be willing to let my black and red leather base GT seats go.

Four bolts per seat and unclip a plug. It's a very simple project if you can lift a seat. It can be awkward to get them in and out.

2015-2017 and 2018-2022 have different wiring configurations but you can get around it.

You're obviously free to ignore my unsolicited thoughts here... But given the other cars in your garage, and the fact that you're asking this question here, I suspect it's going to be much easier (and probably cheaper) for you to just trade your Mustang for one that already has the seats you want.

I would absolutely not bother doing this swap myself in your shoes, unless it was just a passion project... Or maybe if the rest of your Mustang's configuration is truly perfect for you and difficult to find on the aftermarket.
I spent 3 years hunting for this one. Triple Yellow, performance package, Torsen rear end with 3.73 gears., 14k miles when I bought it, manual transmission, navigation. I think I'll keep it.

Thanks for the pictures and info. I definitely might be interested. Mine is triple yellow , I would have to think about how the red would look in it. Where are you located? I am in Odessa.

Hah, fair enough. That is a beautiful config. Speaking as a fellow owner of a yellow 5.0 S550 with a manual (and the leather sofa seats), I fully understand your attachment. I absolutely love Daisy, and even I forget how much I like my build sheet sometimes. I meant no offense, carry on, and I'm sorry I don't have any more useful input for you!

On the other hand if you Want to keep your recaros with the car and use regular seats I have a set of black leather Mustang GT premium seats that are heated and cooled. The power functions will work just no heat/ac without more involved wiring and programming.
they are out of my son’s 2015 triple yellow that we swapped a yellow stitched interior from another car.
not as nice looking as my red and black but serviceable.
i will shoot pics if you want to see them

Wut? Its literally the easiest swap ever. Its four bolts and a couple connectors, and he’ll come out with a wad of extra cash from trading seats too. The only thing is he wont have heating/cooling on the sofa seats but he doesnt have that now either.

As you’re finding out, TONS of people want to swap to get recaros. They cost quite a bit so you can ask a fair price and trade with someone and finding a local wont be too hard.

I was on the other side of this trade back in ~2019

Anyway use the classifieds portion of the site for that.

Agreed many people are looking for recaro. Myself I like the mustang premium seats. the red and blacks are coming out for a complete upgrade to heat/ac/memory custom upholstery setup. I have had the red/black for a few years now and feel I need to freshen the interior for next years mustang week Texas. I have recaro seats for track days. The red/black were going in my sons triple yellow until I came across the yellow stitched premium set complete interior door cards console etc.

"literally" lol

I know this process is quite expensive and painful in some other cars (such as my Cayman), no matter which direction you're going. I'm surprised to learn that it's simple here, apparently even if you're going from manual to power seats?

Anyway, I'll take the L on this one. TIL.
