Thanks for the data points. Over the past few weeks as the weather has gotten better here I've found myself really focusing on this issue more and more, so lots of low speed and highway speed stuff over the same roads, with a few spots in particular. Seat-of-the-pants observations show no difference in the suspension, not over washboard type surfaces, undulating roads, or even the big expansion joint/canyons we have. It's almost as if the MR adjustments are designed to function only in rotational movements (pitch/roll/yaw) and not translational. I'm sure that's not the case but it definitely seems that way.

ALSO I realize switching back to the CF wheels and slightly lighter carcasses of the MP4S's has affected ride quality, and not in a great way. It definitely feels more crashy as compared to the heavier Fall/Winter combo I was running. The grip and looks are more than enough to make up for it, of course.

Nay nay…the diff in Sport and Normal is huge, and yes I’m talking just suspension. WAY stiffer in Sport, to the point I don’t use it unless it’s frisky time 🫠

…it’s literally a Miata vs Cadillac 😉

I hate to say it, but maybe you have a blown shock or 2. I know you ride sportbikes, too, and those of us from that world (well, formerly from that world in my case) seem to be extra-cognizant of minor differences (I could always tell even one click on an Ohlins). If you are saying it's "crashy", then that doesn't sound at all like my GT350R.

Man I really need to ride in another R to see if I'm just old and crotchety, or if there's something up with my Magnerides. There is zero discernable difference to me between the normal and sport settings although the dash will indicate I'm switching modes. But I'm fairly certain I've read on this sub from other R owners that it's a noticeable change, gives the car two characters.

Other R owners what are your thoughts?
Same here. When they had mine on the lift the other day, there was a slight oil film on the rear shocks. But since I see others posted we should tell a difference, wondering if my shocks are going bad and that is my cause. Just got it on the road, since I acquired it, so doing a little wait and see; and not jump to changing them just yet.

@Ahung12 …I don’t disagree with you, but I’ll bet dollars to doughnuts (whatever that means) that even one blown shock will limit the selection to NORMAL only.

if I was anywhere near you, I would let you drive mine (with me in the pax seat and a rabid dog sneering at you like a rare steak) so you can feel the difference 🫠

I used to get the "drive mode not available" error once in a while but not since I swapped the battery.

I'll need to get it on a lift one of these days. The way the suspension feels during heave is a lot like when I picked up my new-to-me S2000 back in the day and found out that the previous owner never had the spring blocks removed during PDI!

Same thing happened to me when I bought our CTR. I was second owner and orange shipping blocks were in for years. Couldn’t believe it. I swore I’ve never heard of that happening to someone else until now!

Anywho I just took the 350 for a rip. It is discernible in sport, I find you get way less nose lift flooring it and diving under hard braking. More bumpy too.

Kid next to me gave thumbs up so had to downshift and give her the beans. I can neither confirm nor deny if I was skrrtttng tires under bridges, keeping it at 6k on highway, downshifting and being an absolute menace. These cars turn me into an animal.

Finished the Whipple install. Still gotta reinstall the bumper and get all the air out of the coolant system's but other than that it's done!

Finally pulled the trigger. Glad I did as they stopped making these. Think there is only one NIB left now.
