There is a video of a 5.2 crossplane making 625 flywheel, and its not that radical, but its the CJ manifold that got them there. Buy a spare hood and put a scoop on it, maybe 645???.

I really think the cobra jet intake on the voodoo would be a great combo, also I noticed that our stock intake is rated for 7500 rpm. Where the cobra jet is rated to 7750 rpm. I had a thought of if the cobra jet runners were shorter how it would perform. In the fox body days hogan made me a similar intake as the cobra jet for my 401 Yates headed Windsor and it worked great. I wish I had a plastic welder lol. A shorter runner length would also raise the rpm band a bit.

I also thought about a dual plenum intake. Does anyone remember the balance cross ram intake from the fox body days? I think the company is long gone now and I also remember tfs had one. It was more like a cross ram intake with dual plenums. Dual throttle bodies and a plenum on each bank.

Here's one of the BXR intakes for the 302 pushrod.

I thought they said it was a 3.7" bore. They have a video prior to that where they ran it on a carb setup which may have specified.

They mentioned "only 17 more cubic inches" so I assumed 5.2.
Edit: it may have been mentioned in the block build up video of that motor, they ran it with a carb first and got about 585.

I want to keep the stock hood. The issue is just that, hood clearance. I'm also curious how tall the Whipple is that lethal performance is using. The area that is the problem on the hood is right behind the hood vent when the hood goes inward. Not much room. Even if I used upr or made my own motor mounts the cobra jet will not clear. 3/4" lower isn't going to do it. I also don't want to lower the engine as of yet because I'm not sure how the headers will fit.

Definitely do headers first. That's the logical first step. Maybe down the road, there will be some proven solutions to shoehorning a taller IM under the stock hood.
