People are pissed because the progress of the s550 compared to the improvements made by the Camaro. The leap in performance is undeniable. The car gained weight and wasnt even faster than the 2011-2014 s197... that blows. All Ford wanted to do was focus all their energy in redesigning the vehicle and making it appealing for the European market. I don't think they cared about what the Mustang enthusiast was asking for. We have been asking for better faster and lighter for years and they go and pull this...
The major complaints of weight and speed on the 2015 are no different now than when you bought the car, which makes me wonder why you bought it in the first place. None of the good things about the Mustang that led you to buying one have changed since the Camaro came out. Also, the Camaro's performance should have been relatively clear once the C7 Vette and LT1 were revealed. Really there should be no surprises about the current situation, and therefore no cause for disappointment.

This is my 3rd GT since 06. I had an 06, a 2010 and now a 2015. I also had a 2013 F-150. I bought it because I love the Mustang's interior, exterior and the way it performs. It was also a nice upgrade for me coming from the 4.6 liter. That's why I bought the car, I'm Blue Oval all the way. :ford:

And meanwhile, though the Camaro got the upgrade on performance, Chevy Camaro designers still couldn't design a new model out of the paperbag they got it stuck in. Yes, looks are subjective but the 6gen looks relatively the same as the 5gen. Has more power, handling, and less weight? It does which is great, but it still has a rather re-hashed exterior, and awful interior, and its still hard to see out of the damn thing!
S550 didn't get a huge bump in power and may have gained some lbs but it got a major re-design that set it apart from the S197 in both inside and out and for the better as far as majority goes.
And it seems like about 95% of Mustang enthusiast like what they got so yeah

The only idiots are the ones that trade in a car after a few years of new ownership. Those are the suckers depreciation gets.

Your 2018 has no real strong merit and signs are pointing towards '17 MY refresh then '18.
There are a ton of people here who came from 2012-2013 Mustangs, it is obviously a thing regardless of your opinion. And while you're waiting 2 more years for your car they are out enjoying Mustangs right now. The basis behind your opinion is also some pretty weak speculation as I know what car you're talking about. With all the rumors of a Mach or GT500 I find that more possible than a refresh to the full production cars.

And all those screaming Ford has to respond, welcome back to 15 years ago and start investing heavily in the aftermarket. If history has shown anything, it won't be your GT that gets the response.

No way that is the GT500 or Mach...nothing shown on it remotely comes close to the GT350 mules that were out testing for a year. It would have performance tires, exhaust, engine note and other features that would be apparent that it's a performance version out for testing.

People can spend their money and enjoy what they want. I enjoy spending my money wisely and getting what I want in a car.

Have you seen what the FoRS testers looked like? Regular Focus with a tiny bit of camo in the front.

I think it sucks that the Mustang weighs so much too, and is the size it is -- in fact that is why I am not buying one right now. But aside from that, we have a new chassis that is twice as stiff, IRS, an interior that is not even in the same world as the last, and has attracted a entirely new demographic of buyers. Twice as many people per month as the ones that bought the last car concur.

Even at that, to compare it to a car that is a year and a half NEWER is silly, no?

Regardless, the "improvements made by the Camaro" look good on paper, but in reality, it is 15hp more than the mustang, and while they cut a bunch of weight, they brought it down to a weight the Mustang was already at. And they are screwing over the guys that paid twice as much for a Corvette. If you ask me, that is nothing to be super excited about for a engineering crew that had over a year to benchmark the Mustang.

I can't help but think that MOST of the acceleration is being helped by the 8spd tranny, and the handling by the mag shocks.

Did you see what the GT350 mules looked like? Quad exhausts, covered rims, covered hood, covered sides and back obviously hiding high end performance features.

None of those were covered on the recent mule except front fascia/lights and rear lid/lights. It also had the lighting fixtures which points to new headlamps/tail lamps.

I'd say those all point to a GT refresh, not a performance GT500 or Mach.

For sure...which is why many wanted a 8 speed in the 2015 next gen. But Ford tends to carry over engines/trannies and then swap mid-cycle.

Yep. When we get an 8-10spd auto with the next refresh, the Mustang will be just as fast as the Camaro. And to add -- Chevy put all of their cards on the table with this car. On the 2015, Ford left A LOT of room for improvement which is good for us.

Eh 15 hp yes but a more TQ also. You can't ignore that. It's more than just the 8speed.

Still GT Performance is strong enough for me and the looks are better. If the transmission doesn't bother me when I test I'll likely be in one - now if only I could figure out the color.

No you can't ignore it, but it is not a huge factor. The GM engines always had more torque than the Ford DOHC engines, and they had it at a lower RPM. Granted the car was heavier, but it really did not make a huge difference.

I still think the 8spd is the majority of what causes the car to be faster. We see the same thing with the Mopars. Thats is a 4200+ lb. car that saw SIGNIFICANT performance increases when they went to the 8 spd. Look at the Hellcat Challenger -- faster 1/4mi than the GT500, only 40hp more, but 500 lbs. heavier.

Is the S550 a disappointment? No. Not even close to being disappointed.

I traded in a '14 GT500 to get my '15 GTPP, and I'd owned several other GT500s before getting the '14 (they just kept getting better). IMHO, the '15 GTPP beats the '14 GT500 in everything except HP. Nicer interior, better handling/feel, better ride quality. It's a better car all the way around, and I don't regret making the trade although I do miss the massive HP and torque sometimes.

I don't think we'll see a significant upgrade for the GT before the '18 MY. I think the GT350 is going to be the Camaro killer until then.

I will not lie, I don't like that the new camaro can outdo my GT on the track. But with a few very minor aftermarket parts, I can give my GT the competitive edge back... if I want to. The point is, products are always changing, if you spend forever waiting on the next model year, you'll never get the BEST want because there will always be something better around the corner. I bought my 16 GT because I have loved mustangs since I was a kid and this is my dream car. Plus, as high as Camaros are, I doubt we'll be seeing any on the streets that can compare to my GT as much as older models that CAN'T compare. Because while that one camaro in town may beat mine, I have a overall more enjoyable, more refined ride. Plus most of the crowd who buy camaros are either quite young or old enough to be my father. Rarely do you see someone (in my town anyways) who's rolling around in a GT or 2SS otherwise. Unless you're a spec guy or enthusiast you're not going to be able to tell the differences anyways.

When you buy a computer you KNOW that in 6 months it's going to be usurped. When you buy a car you know in 1-5 years it is going to be usurped, either by the new model of itself or by the competing models.

You have two choices, never buy anything for fear and understanding of outdatedness, or buy what you like and live with it.

Focus on what you have, not what you don't have. Life is not about your opportunity costs.

True but again with the computer if you know your stuff, you know when to buy due to processors, screens, cards, etc. If Intel is coming out with a new chip next year that is the next architecture for 3+ years, I'm not buying the current one.
