Pretty certain they're inspected and sold to a reseller with warranty. Though an actual owner of one would know what better than me. I don't think anyone, even a manufacturer, can reset an odometer legally.

It does and people squabble over the exact meaning of the MP and PP initials all day long. Regardless, the Certificates of Authenticity say "pre-production" right on them and that's good enough for me.
I know this is a Shelby forum but here is a little history/background on the 2012 Boss 302 "Pre-Production" vehicles for any of our recent generation Boss 302 owners and fellow Shelby enthusiasts.

There were 4 levels of "Pre-Production" Boss 302 vehicles for 2012 and were designated as follows:

VP - Variable Prototype - No VIN's issued and not sure how many were produced but very few were produced and all were supposedly destroyed.

TT - Tooling Tryouts - All cars came with VIN's but typically all cars are destroyed with 1 car reaching the public for sale and sold at Mecum within the last year or so. That was car "TT0001" and was assembled on September 8th, 2010. There were a total of 12 TT cars produced with only 1 car accounted for. It was a CO Boss 302.

PP - Pilot Production - All cars came with VIN's but typically all PP cars were to be destroyed. A total of 12 PP 2012 Boss 302 cars were assembled with cars PP0001 to PP0005 accounted for and released to the public with the last 7 cars supposedly destroyed. Vehicle PP0001 (Black Laguna Seca) was the only Boss 302 assembled on Monday, October 25th, 2010 with the following 11 PP cars assembled on Tuesday, October 26th, 2010. Vehicle PP0002 (Performance White) was the first 4 seat PP car produced. Vehicle PP0003 (CO) was the only Canadian spec PP car built and resides in Ontario, Canada with a friend of mine. Vehicle PP0004 resides with a friend of mine in Georgia and vehicle PP0005 resides with a collector in America.

MP - Mass Production - All cars came with VIN's and were all U.S. spec cars. There were a total or 44 MP cars assembled with 13 of them being Laguna Seca models. The Laguna Seca models consisted of 9 Black cars, 3 Ingot Silver cars and 1 Grabber Blue car. Whoever owns the special Grabber Blue Laguna Seca that Ron Pratt purchased at Barrett Jackson for $450,000 back in 2011 certainly has a special car. I believe this car was sold privately by Ron Pratt within the last year or so.

Fortunately I have copies of window stickers for all of the above pre-production cars with the exception of the VP cars.

BTW, the internal Ford code name for the latest generation Boss program that started back in 2009 was "747".

Just a little trivia for you Ford Pony junkies.

:ford:

Really? Never heard that before. These exchange hands frequently or go into someone's private collection?
This was also done on S197 Bullitts. The pilot production cars were so good, they were reconditioned, inspected, and sold at auction to dealers. This happened for both the '08 and '09 model years.

All of the five 2012 PP cars were under 300 miles when purchased except for PP0004 which had considerable more miles than the 4 other cars.

No reconditioning just 2 engineers signing off on the cars and then off to auction in Detroit.

For the Track Tour, they stated they added a pair to all the cars tracked. Preventive measures.
I was surprised by how much oil I found after a track day. Worth it. If they are selling these cars they probably want that intake and heads as clean as can be.

Couldn't you just remove the lines that return the oil vapors to the intake and run an old school vent on the cam covers? Seems like that would be a lot cheaper route. I know you would lose the emission factor, but that would eliminate those dirty vapors from getting back into the intake.

The air that passes in and out of the engine needs to be controlled/measured for the engine management to function properly.

What? Many including me are running 302S breathers on our GT's and Bosses with no issues.
