Neighbors complaining about cold start-ups

I just keep to myself I couldn't tell what my neighbors look like. I dont care about anything they do. The one guy has a bike thats really loud the other guy has 2500 Cummings Diesel that he lets idle so I don't think anyone cares about my extremes. The only thing I can say is try to be respectful of your neighbors but you cannot please everyone.

I am firmly NOT in the camp of those saying to just fuggem. You have to live near these people; think of their own feelings and then their perceptions of you. You're not building any bridges by aggravating them, and may cause quite a bit of hostility.

See if there's some way that you can park away from windows with your exhaust facing the opposite direction of the doors/windows of your neighbors. Start the car only when necessary and try to idle out without adding gas if possible until you're out of earshot. As a last resort you may need to think about exhaust modifiation to cut down noise.

But really, don't be a selfish asshole.

People here seriously over-exaggerate...making it seem like the exhaust sounds like a helicopter is taking off from your apartment complex.

People are comparing your situation like it's a "REAL-WORLD" problem.

If I were you, talk to the neighbors personally and I bet that will resolve the issue.

All this talk that this disrespectful, inconsiderate, talking about karma, changing out your exhaust and talking about society going in the wrong direction is laughable and ridiculous!

The guy across the street from me had a classic Mustang for years. Lets just say we never got along (he hasn't had a job since 2008, lives off his wife). He had an exhaust on this Mustang that was loud. Due to his no-work life style, he liked to fire that thing up at 4AM and let it just sit there for at least 10 minutes with his foot on the peddle revving it. On the flip side he had a loud Harly that he would fire up at 11 PM almost every night and sit there and rev it for 10 minutes (seriously). Now, I honestly wouldn't mind a cold start up of a Mustang for <1 minute. But some people are mentally ill with the way they treat their neighbors. Luckily finances forced the guy to eventually sell both.

OP needs the exhaust system with the electronic butterflies that keep it quiet until the butterflies are opened up by the driver. Best of both worlds.

Have some small resonators installed on your car, it's your car that is loud no theirs.:shrug: If you go back to stock then you won't be happy, some resonators may be an answer for this problem. I'm looking at some axle-backs myself, but my nearest neighbor is 1/4 mile away.

the amount of inconsideration for others in this thread is terrible. Aparently everyone is 'that' loud asshole neighbor and they have never experienced others bothering them with noise. Remember people, the dude lives in an apartment complex; He's not parking in his own house.

To be fair the Corsa Xtremes are very loud on cold start. It's one of the reasons I went with the American Racing cat-back. Cold starts are not embarrassing.

Sometimes you just gotta grow up and get an exhaust that still sounds great but isn't obnoxious or inconsiderate. If you want an exhaust that will wake people up, buy a weekend car. Don't do it to your daily driver.

When you choose to live in a condo/townhouse/apartment complex you are choosing to be a considerate neighbor.

I don't think "inviting" the police to show up with a dB meter is a good idea either, since I'm pretty sure the Corsa Xtremes are not going to be a legal sound level for a car exhaust? Even if it is legal, do you really think the police will be on your side?

have you been living under a rock in this country? the over sensitivity, general butt hurt over everything, being called a bigot for disagreeing or having opposing views, political correct crap, riots, and bruce jenner is now a hero? not to mention the supreme court. I got more than a bag of clue, we all do because we live in it every day. If we have to accept EVERYTHING, then someone can accept a 2015 40k car's 15sec cold start.

before you do that just get the corsa touring axle back instead of cutting up the extreme

either way you'll still hear it on start up. resonators or touring axle backs or not
