Motortrend (Quite possibly worse than jalop at automotive writing and comparisons) did it first, then DRIVE did it. All the comments at the bottom seem to read the same. Ie, Focus is for immature kids, and the 4 banger stang is for posers.

Some people just never learn. I'll take my 4 banger to the track, getting 33 mpg highway on the way there. Smoke your nose heavy V8, or porsche or whatever. Then get 33 mpg on the way home on the highway.

But the one thing that always gets me. Why do all these comparo's test the loaded premium heavy cars? get the stripper model 4 banger in there and win something. geez!
I see you have PP model, do you know how much weight that adds to base model (brakes, wheels/tires) . I was thinking around 50-75lb but that is total guess depending on wheels etc .
Ford doesn't seem to list package added weights , just model weights.

And cheap insurance.
I hate reading reviews when they are like its a good car but its almost 40K because we got every single option added and its the special limited edition ding bat. Hardly anyone is going to pay msrp or add all the options. Car magazines and reviewers always pull this crap.

You think that is because of car magazines or maybe Ford, pushing the best model so you see all options available .
I agree, very few buy with all options .

The car manufactures give the magazines the cars to test. The magazines get the sticker info with it. Obviously if you are a any company and know your product is going to be tested you would also hand over the nicest optioned car you had.
