That's what I am saying. A simple 3076 will get you 400whp on a 2.0T, but after that there are a lot of other issues. If that is all you want then it is a good platform. The interest really isn't there for anything more. I've been into the VW scene for years and love them. I was going to get a MK7 but decided on the EB instead.

i wish i did the same, but got a mk7 after my total loss of my mk6 last september. Now i'm looking at leftover GT's. I was more biased on german cars at the time I had my mk6, but now I know better in terms of what you get for your buck vs what german offers.

Until Ford released the FoST, when I needed a DD years ago, GTI/R was on my list for new cars. Then came the FoST and changed my perception, then I got a 225 TT, and then an A4

Since then, only reason I'd look at them is to show my friends who can't drive stick what they could get, otherwise I tell them to join a gym before they sit in a FoST.

Not saying VW/Audi's are bad, they're great and got potential, but they're a little boring and conservative looking. Not saying I like Boy Ricer type cars, but some flare and attitude go a long way in my book

All hot hatches look like gremlin boots. They either look plain or look f' ugly. The Germans just blend into the crowd and the fost looks like a child's hot wheels.

most super cars arent all that impressive in straight line speed. Im not trying to set any standard. 10s to me is like playing around in a 13 second car for most. Its fun but its slow (10s being fun for me not 13s). I generally always build 8-9 second cars street hustling cars. The end potential of the r or gti will not be as good as the sti or Evo. Stock turbo or upgraded. It doesn't compare. you will spend more for power out of a vw over either sti or evo. Nothing like spending more for slower. Id rather play with a honda then a vw. Thats saying something:lol: maybe to the people you hang around 10 is crazy fast. the people i hang out with find 10s slow. The majority of people on yellowbullet, the forum i post on the most would laugh hysterically at 10s. 9s is slow to them. they are all about 6-7s and low 8 second cars.
Are you talking street outlaws "street" cars or an actual street car that's not a drag build. You got a link to your 8 sec. Street car? A 10 sec car is nutty fast and borderline useless on the street.

An actual street car that will turn 8s but is used only on the streets to take money, hurt feelings and embarrass shit talkers. I havent a link to anything. plus i dont do build threads, never have for the previous 6 8 to low 9 second cars Ive built. A 10 second car is very usable on the street. For people not used to tons of power, sure 10s is a handful. Playing in a 10 second car for me is like playing around in 13 second car for most people its fun but not remotely fast.

same, i'm likely jumping the german ship at next port, unless i'm rich, except i'm not a quiet person. When you compare coupes or sedans in either domestic and german, you will see huge price differences in what you get, like power, displacement, gearing, better bang for money etc. when you really look at comparisons, you'll find domestics do better, yet german is just more luxurious and offer little less with more money. like 535i vs charger r/t. or a 428i coupe to mustang gt for the same price, yet you get half the power with bimmer and less long term reliability.

I hear ya man. These kids just have never been in really fast cars before. And for me, a 6-8 second car is super boring and slow as shit, so I can relate, but it was fun back in high school. Lately, if it's not in the 5's my heart doesn't even get pumping. Not trying to make you feel bad or anything because I know 6-8 second cars probably feel really fast to you, and that's okay. I also have no link and don't have the time for build threads, so I understand where you are coming from there too :)

Im aware of what they are doing. I just haven't bothered to see what the net torque is. In my opinion they arent a threat. They are not fast stock, they are not fast modded. A stock gt is not fast either. No where close. A lot faster then a stock gti and golf r but thats it.
The new Golf R runs a very similar 1/4 as the Mustang GT. So no, the GT is not much faster.

Everyone will have their own definition of "fast" so it's nearly pointless to argue what you think is fast vs. what someone else thinks. It's all relative.

In this case we are talking about stock and/or lightly modded $30k-$40k street cars. The new Golf R can run mid to high 11's with a stage 2 tune/downpipe. With minimal mods on practical $40k DD, I'm not sure how you don't think that is fast. Because that's one damn quick little car.

Haha, very well said. This mustang_guy is a clown. Now if he at least always said "to me" when talking about what is "fast", and would say how he understands that's absurd for 99% of the population it would be different. But instead he's making global statements about what is fast or slow, which is ridiculous. Yeah dude, most supercars are slow as shit. Lol, GMAFB pal.

yes im a clown because ive been doing this for 25 years and have had multiple 8-9 second cars. I stopped playing with slow cars a long time ago. I get its not everyones cup of tea. For me im interested in hauling real ass. Not impressing friends and others with slow cars.
