Like I said, a decently tuned GTI is no joke.

The only way I would consider a GTI is on lease. I traded a 2005.5 Audi S4 for my ecoboost, the driving factor was multiple oil leaks and a deteriorating wiring harness. I bought the car with 80K and in the 30K miles I owned it I had to replace the front control arms due to the bushings being cracked and rotting, as well as two CV boots that split.
I would like to think VAG has gotten better over the years but I have a friend with a 2008 VW Golf and the clear coat on the hood has come off in sheets, and she just had one of the rear rotors and calipers replaced because it completely locked up while taking a turn... at 55K miles. I would never consider one of these cars for more than a few years. I just don't trust German reliability. http://dougdemuro.kinja.com/german-reliability-the-greatest-myth-ever-sold-to-amer-1572026115

I have a K04 GTI. My GTI may be faster but I say stock Mustang GT is more fun to drive (mostly due to RWD).

I intend to mod my Mustang to be faster, anyway. ;)
