Test drove a GTI before I bought an Evo X. There's a reason why I didn't buy the GTI. BORING. Get an Ecoboost and just give a portion of your paychecks each month to MAPerformance. You will not regret it.
Saw a MkVII going into NYC yesterday, I was like:shrug:

A modded GTi is slightly faster than a stock 4 banger Mustang.

Congrats.

I drove a GTi Mk6 for a couple months. It's quick, but it's lame to drive.
And if I feel like driving a fast FWD, I just get into my SRT4...

You just compared a neon to a GTI. You might as well said a turbo civic...LOL. Not hating, just saying. Driving a stock GTi does it no justice btw. Extremely limited like the ecoboost stang from the dealership.

Anywho, can't wait to get back to my old GTi Speeds on the stang.

Lets see what a tuned EBM does vs that K04
If the K04 can walk a 5.0 on a pull (not launch) I would imagine it would take a stage 2 full bolt on EB just to keep up, if even that.

I've raced many K04 when I had my full bolt on stage 2 GTI. Those things are not slow and can hang a lot of high powered NA's. The MK7 GTI with stage 2 and bolt on is suppose to be equal to a k04 mk6 GTI.

Another example of what those K04's can do, this one is much more modded than the other one vs the stang's. I believe its water/meth injected.

APR's stage 1 Mk7 Golf R ran an 11.9 at ~114mph and the GTI ran a 13.1 @ ~110mph.

Not bad for $700.

Wow, I didn't realise how much power you can put down on those GTI's. Just did some browsing on the APR website and with their Stage II ECU upgrade your at 336HP/404TQ. And I assume its a few hundred pounds lighter than the Ecoboost.

The Mk7 Golf R stage 1 has been reported to do 0-60 at 3.6 to 3.8 and with a 1 foot roll does 3.4 -3.5 0-60. I wish the Mustang Eco boost could do that with just a tune or even a Mustang GT for that matter. I like the new mustang but it takes some serious $$ to get even a GT to go 0-60 in 3.5.

DSG and AWD are a big reason. I've been contemplating a Mustang for quite a while, but I think I've settled on getting a new S3 (basically the Golf R) and picking up a used S550 GT in a year or two. I want both, but practicality is winning over.
