Why is the GT350 even being compared to a Corvette? 2 different class cars, of which the Mustangs have never been able to compete with. Camaros.... their enemy...

Ford did say the GT350 Track Pack runs similar lap times as the Corvette Z51.

The C7Z06 gained quite a bit of weight compared to the C6 at least.

When I was looking at C7s, the configuration I was looking at weighed about 3430lbs or abouts. Base trim, Z51. That's 100 lb more than a comparable C6.

But it still sucks they couldn't get it into the 3500 range with full fluids.

I'd Imagine many will be keeping this car for a while so we could see some weight reduction panels and parts pop up in times where it makes sense like carbon hoods, etc. For me I could see this turning into a pure race car down the road after paying it off. I said that about my 2011 but knowing what I know now, the S550 is a platform that makes more sense, IRS and such. If the S197 had an IRS, I would have done the race car thing.

Imagine the sound of that with no mufflers on a back stretch!!!!!!!!!

The Vette is a purpose built 2 passenger sports car with a 56k starting price, that Chevy pumps out 30k a year of.

The mustang is a 4 seater based on a chassis that starts sub 25k made for high volume world wide sales. For them to even be compared is awesome.

Not the "R" version. Also the z06 has to accommodate for the supercharger and beefed up parts to go along with it. Look at the weight difference between a base c7 and a z06.

Come on man, just because the seats are gone doesnt make the car magically shrink and eliminate all the extra weight. The track pack and R cars also have extra weight from all the coolers as well.
