Hey Larry, are you using full length x-pipes? And where did you buy them? Thanks.Yea sure no problem!!!
Awesome! Looking forward to hearing the results! And if you decide to do a muffler delete mine will be up for sale very shortly! That's not bad at all I think I'm Gona do that and see how it is with the roush abs and if that don't work out ill do the muffler delete

Hi Zack,Cool! I plan to have my new setup done by this weekend so it should be sometime next week!
Hey Davekro!Hi Zack,
I spoke to Flowmaster today and the very knowledgeable (about Mustangs, Camaros and Challenger/Chargers) tech. said to change my drone, I needed to add an H-pipe* up front, delete the suitcase and put the stock mufflers back on. Then if it was too loud, add 12" resonators similar to their 4x5x12 p/n 12412409.
I am very curious about how the 11385 'X' pipe/ resonator combo fit and sounds!
1) Is the pipe width of the 11385 a direct slip on/ bolt up to the front where suitcase was cut off?
2) Would it be easy to just slip on 2 1/4" pipe extensions from the auto parts store to connect the back of the 11385 to the pipes heading backward?
3) What is your current set up behind the axle? Still just straight pipes with the resonator tips on the end? Are you running 2 1/4" insert inside the DC Sport resonators. To get away from the resonator tip and get a bit prettier tail pipe bling, I got a pair of Flowmaster and Borla 4" double wall angle cut tips (but I still run 2 1/4" inserts!) to play with.
4) So what does your system sound like for drone, volume and over all tone (low vs higher pitch/tone or heaven forbid, rasp. ;o)
Looking forward to your full report.
* FM tech said 'H' pipe was much preferred to 'X' to not get the higher pitched sound or rasp. I emailed Magnaflow a bit ago for info on what's actually inside the 11385 and tube center dimension. Do you know what the innards are made of?
Thanks
Zack,Hey Davekro!
I just got my sound clip uploaded a bit ago! Here it is! Keep in mind this is without cats and with long tube headers so this system should have tons of rasp. Thankfully though the 11385 plus the two round magnaflow axleback mufflers keeps this all in check. I will try to answer your questions one by one!
1) Yes the ID of the 11385 inlet and outlet measures 2.3".
2) It should be easy to do this. The suitcase center to center is 4.25" while the 11385 is 4" so there might be a slight issue there. I don't think it is a big enough difference though for it not to work. Just mike take some persuasion ;)
3) Like I said above I have two magnaflow round mufflers (same as used in their competition axleback) headed out to 3.5" double walled tips. The interesting thing about these tips is that the ID is just about 2.3".
4) For an LT header catless exhaust it sounds great! Kept the rasp in check and does not done to bad... There is drone around the 1700 rpm mark but it is much less then the previous systems I have designed. It is hard to say if the 11385 is responsible for this but it is possible.
It is actually not as bad as the video is making it! The camera was a bit overwhelmed from the audio. The next sound clip I will have my camera man take a few steps back! Interior resonance is not bad at all. Like I said I have a hint of drone around the 1700 rpm mark with some drone on deceleration. Not bad at all though and certainly not annoying for me. Check out my LT exhaust thread for some pictures of inside the 11385. It is a perforated x-pipe with what I am assuming is stainless steel mesh and fiberglass packing comprising most of the oval. If you are looking for an h pipe and resonators then I would just go with the 11385 as it is really combining both into one. (except x pipe instead of h)Zack,
3) I see from you video you used 4" round x 14" long MF 10415 mufflers and mounted behind the axle. (with tips mounted to them?)
What brand & p/n tips are you using now?
4) I forgot about the LT's & catless part. I assume you do the entire system all at once, meaning install LT's, 11385 and 4" round MF mufflers.
Wow, that has some LOW resonance, ouch. I look forward to your drive away and interior videos. I have been hyper focused on banging my head against the wall (trying to remove drone by swapping the thingies at the end of the system). Like the guy at Flow master said to me today, I think I need to try adding and H-pipe and resonators, but I sure do like the ease and price of an all-in-one crossover w/ resonator included like the MF 11385. Do you know what the innards of it are composed of? What did it look like looking down the inlets & outlets?
I'm guessing with your new system,
a) the LT's and Catalitic delete added loudness (and floooow! ;))
b) the swap of suitcase for 11385 netted more loudness. Adding the crossover was a plus, but not sure how that plays into the sound aspects
c) going with smaller size mufflers (compared to ovals) added loudness
Do you have any guesses what swapping out the suitcase for an 11385 would do, sound wise in my system ? Currently running MF 11225 (4x9 x 14"L) mufflers, which are some what quieter than my original (higher drone) 11365's (11" long).
Thanks,
Dave

3) The tips are just some I found on eBay for $25 a piece.

4) Yes I did the complete install so I can't comment on how the 11385 alone changed the exhaust note.
My guess is that swapping the suitcase for the 11385 will provide you with a bit more sound. Your exhaust note will gain a new "growl" instead of the rather blunt note it currently has. My suspicion is that it will cure most of your done but don't quote me on that!
Too late! ;) :lol:My suspicion is that it will cure most of your done but don't quote me on that!
They were actually a fairly loose fit. ID of the tips was about 2.3" so they had a bit of play in them over the 2.25" pipe. I would think that you can do the 3 bolt mounting system like the DC Sport tips without much issue on these.Too late! ;)
GREAT find on those tips. Love e'm. I'm trying yo stay bolt on and could probably make those work. How snug or loose was their slip over fit onto 2 1/4" pipe? I could drill/tap (3) 10-32 screws to hold them. RIght now I an using shims between 2 1/4" inlet tips and 2 1/2" i.d. test tips (Borla and Flowmaster so these are less than half the price and look great! ;))
I don't exactly agree with the tech's comments on other country requirements as the V6 is only being sold in North America. What I think could have happened is that they just decided to use the suitcase design from the GT because the V6 was pretty much an after thought for the S550. It gave a unique note because of the lack of a physical cross-over and its muffling effects from the large open chamber design.I remember you talking about 11-14 V6's. The Flowmaster tech I spoke with today thought the suitcase res was poor change and thought it was probably for super quite 'other country' requirements. That sounds right. He thought the previous V6's were a great set up w/o a suitcase and with either just an H-pipe or H-pipe plus 12" resonators right behind the H. Ad leave the stock muffler on.
But, but, but.. I had read that the '15 suitcase gave it a lower or otherwise positive unique sound and to keep it for sure. Now I am not very sure of THAT idea.
What are your thoughts on 11-14 set ups vs. '15 setups (aside from your Full Monte that is! ;) ) I now have 2 1/4" tail pipes that my mufflers slide onto and off, so I can now easily swap around mufflers on the 'end of the system' for tuning purposes if I chose to chop out the resonator. I feel I have done as much as possible with muffler/tip swapping. My drone would be probably tolerable for most, but if I can get better than tolerable AND fairly, if not as low sounding tone, I'd be happy. Maybe low sound by definition comes with some drone, I don't know.
