They want to force people into the EB for premium options which is a bad move for a company. Buyer should be making the choice, not the product maker. Chevy threw down...and they will benefit from Ford's bad decision on the V6.

Cars should always be based on certain things like engine choice, interior (cloth/leather) choice, safety choice, entertainment choice, etc...I hate how they package things...it sucks and sucks for consumers.
Unfortunately, though, A LOT of companies do this. Every brand in one product or another does it. It sucks.

Let's put this into a perspective that ANYONE can understand...especially buyers who want what they want.

The Camaro offers all the trims and fixings you could want...with ANY choice of engine. And, by the looks of things, with any choice of transmission. Those are all wins. Everyone looking at a Camaro wins. People who want manual or automatic, 4, 6 or 8 cylinders...there is a car for them.

I would disagree with this statement based purely on aesthetics.

Truth be known we know the new Camaro looks like a sedan, it has 450 HP, That is about it and no need to compare as we don't know much else besides the V6 turns like a dumb truck.

Like having a pissing contest into a 50 MPH wind.
Where did you hear that the new V6 Camaro turns like a dumb (dump?) truck? All of the initial reviews I've read said the opposite.

And as other people have already said the Camaro looks as much like a Malibu as the Mustang looks like a Fusion. I think both manufactures have hints of styling that permeate through their different models.

You mean manufacturers have a common design language that permeates all models?

Wow...

Is there an option for larger brakes, better wheels/tires, a better 6 speed manual or better airflow?

Those "details" should be heavily discussed.

Nothing will affect the sales of mustang, as long as there are people out there who either doesn't like the look of the new camaro or they will never buy GM vehicles.

A smart buyer on the hand is a different story. If you are looking for the best bang for your buck then wait till the prices, specs, and reviews are out and then decide on your purchase.

Exactly. I won't buy GM because they got bailed out and I've owned 2 Fords for 10+ years each, this one going on 16+ years and I own Ford stock.

BUT the new Camaro definitely has challenged the new Mustang with a look that carries over from their successful 5th gen (and like everyone on this board says about the Mustang, the reviewers say the new Camaro looks way better in person then photos suggest) and model/tech upgrades that have leaped the new Mustang and Ford will have to respond and I hope they do it in spades. Being a Ford supporter I can still see the challenge that the Camaro just threw down unlike some on here.

Jeez, you managed to agree with me and be condescending all at the same, how clever...

Just to be clear, I like the new Mustang, but I wasn't sold on the new design until I saw it in person. And even then it took a bit of time to grow on me. I like most of what I've seen of the new Camaro, but I'm holding my final opinion until I have a chance to see it in person and drive it.

I also don't think you need 400+ HP for a DD, and I'm not going to be dumping money (and risking the warranty) on tuning, so the fact you can get a Camaro with the new V6 / 8 speed auto and the RS package is a plus for me. Maybe I'll love it when I drive it, maybe I won't (I'm not a huge fan of the Gen5), but I will give it a fair shot and then buy the car I like best.

Based on looks, the Camaro can put a threat to the Mustang. It's subjective anyways.

Now, performance wise, the Mustang will still win by a lot as it have been doing for the last 50 years.

Performance have been back and forth when both cars have been manufactured. You are right about looks being subjective. I really dig the interior and exterior of new Mustang. That being said, I do not know how you can say that the Mustang will win by a lot when it comes to performance? More hp, more torque, and (quite possibly) less weight. Not to mention that new A8 that is really something else.

PS: I know that this is my first post. I am an all around car guy. However, I have only owned GM cars. That does not mean that I am a fanboi. I enjoy a good debate, so I came over here from Camaro5. Those people can be a little crazy, (as can a few over here).

Agreed and I think this is where Chevy will win the mid range segment.

You don't get the stigma of a 4 cylinder and you get a nice new V6 with very decent HP/TQ as a DD along with a nice engine/exhaust note and very good MPG.

I hope Ford counters that in some way because I prefer the S550 in all ways...but Chevy really countered hard with their 6G

Welcome!

I've been over at the Camaro6g forums just tracking the new car (didn't sign up or anything). I still want a S550 but I really need Ford to counter this new Camaro because it has a lot going for it.

.
I'm referring to track performance and durability. And not just 1 hot lap followed by critical overheat and two radiators falling off.
