I dislike the Camaro but the interior is vastly improved. The Mustang actually follows suit with most other Ford vehicles more than the 16 Camaro does with GMs

The Mustang has a lot of those hard flat edges and steep 'cliffs' in the cabin especially in the door sills. I like the sloping angles and front swept lines of the Camaros interior. I'm still not a fan of the center console but I like the overall design

I personally agree with Spartan on the marketing angle. Chevrolet made a smart move by having a lineup that will make more sense to the average consumer. Despite how many of us may feel on how educated the buying public is on these cars and their engine choices, it's pretty obvious that the average buyer here in the U.S., right or wrong, is going to feel that a lineup of 4-6-8 is the more correct progression for a 3 model lineup.

On top of that, every Camaro model can be optioned up, regardless of engine choice. You pick your engine, pick your transmission, pick your options. Regardless of how some people here feel about the car itself, that's a smart business decision. You allow the consumer to choose what they want, and in my opinion that gives them a distinct advantage.

Now some of you may feel the Camaro is ugly, but styling is subjective, and it's clear a great many people out there liked the current Camaro body style and will probably like this one as well.

And before I get flamed by someone as "Camaro fanboy" I will close out by saying I've never owned a GM car in my entire life. Just wanted to throw that out there to head off any 3rd grade reply before it happens.
Agreed. We have to believe that the average consumer is not informed, therefore a 4-6-8 just makes more sense to someone then 6-4-8.

They are putting the 4 as the entry and fuel savings model. They'll be touting that as the "I want a Camaro basically for looks and great MPG as a daily driver".

They'll be touting that V6 as the "I want a Camaro that has some good performance/handling/seat of pants moments but I'll never race/track or am interested in a V8"

Then they obviously have the top with the SS and the V8 for the performance/hard core race/track buyers or for those that only believe a V8 belongs in a pony/muscle car.

So they are going Economic - Mid Range - Performance. I think that makes sense to your average buyer.

Also the V6 according to reports is their top seller so they are continuing to cater to that segment with a mid range model that has all the options except 2.

Not sure I'd go so far as to say "cookie cutter" but it definitely looks like typical GM design. And what's with those tron lines on the door panels? It wasn't enough to be the Transformers car...
I thought for sure they would have stopped that after the Mustang interior came out but they continued it. Not a fan of the LED trim all over. Makes you feel like you are in a video game. My friends '11 has it and I can't stand it.

BTW did you hear they trade marked 'Krypton Green" for the Camaro? Here comes the Superman/Batman tie in lol.

People are missing the big picture

Regardless of the 2016 Camaro "appearance"

1) It helps the mustang a lot, that there exists another car (camaro), which is bringing something to the table, which on many levels should be almost illegal. LT1 corvette crate engine is rated at 460 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque.

2) The 2016 Camaro (finally) lost weight. (I am pretty sure the Cadillac ATS (alpha chassis) does not have any V8 option so I am curious why Camaro does, but ATS doesn't.)

3) Regardless of 2016 looks, if the chassis drives or steers like the previous gen Zeta chassis, then car magazines will be pleased. It sounded like they already were pleased with the 2016 test drives.

4) 2016 Camaro looks like a GM car. I do not notice anything unusual about it. That was their goal. It is obvious GM plans to change the rear taillights later on the 2016 camaro when it gets front/rear facelifts.

5) I have not read yet how reliable the LT1 engine is. Their previous V8 engine had tons of TSBs which I won't list here. But if those issues were solved, then this newest camaro might be a real jewel, but we will find out later.

6) The big picture is Camaro and Mustang both offer extremely competitive choices.

7) Ford enthusiasts should not say "camaro has GM corporate look", unless they first also say mustang has the "FORD" corporate look. (Mustang has front end of Ford Focus, Ford Fiesta, and Ford Fusion). I do not see how anyone can pretend this is not true. GM doesn't have full size cars or small cars that look like the Camaro from the headlight side. Some GM cars seem to have Camaro tail lights though. Camaro now has corvette-style rear lights. To me this is not really relevant. (all car companies do that).

8) These cars were supposed to be extinct by now but LOOK they are not. They not only got lighter but the standard horsepower keeps going up and up. It's awesome. Be glad for this.

9) Even Dodge keeps making that Hellcat 707Hp Thing, for a full-size 4-door car, and the Challenger AND WORD IS OUT they might make a Hellcat SUV (grand cherokee maybe?)

10) All of these car companies are ABSOLUTELY giving customers what they want. (So long as you do not mind paying for it).

GM got the little corporate welfare thing going on.

I feel like they owe me a free Camaro anyway.

I wish I bought GM stock at the bottom like I did Ford but thought for sure they would go under. I'm still pissed Government Motors got bailed out. Still waiting for my free Chevy car also.
