This is gonna be one of those threads where most are going to come up with a reason why it cant be true...

Im not really here to 'prove' anything, if you choose to believe - great. If not, thats fine too.

Here it goes.

The flat plane crank engine spins to WELL over 10k rpm!

I was not allowed to see any of the 'numbers', but I did see the SHAPE of both curves.
Extremely impressive and a huge bravo to #Ford for absolutely nailing this engine!

Im also very greatful to the people that let me into 'skunkworks' and I will keep my end of the bargain.

Any info on when power numbers will be released? That sounds awesome! Over 10K! Try doing that with a Honda or Ferrari.

I dont know anything about it other than what I was allowed to see as I was a guest of one of the guys there.

I can tell you that this race shop is actually GIVING Ford data about this engine.

A lot of Hondas rev to 10k.....

I raced an S2000 a long time ago and we took it to 9500 regularly.
And 120hp/liter.
But, none of that sweet ass torque..

Any rough idea on the peak TQ? Normally hi rev engines don't have hi TQ.

What I'm really interested to see is the TQ curve between 2000 and 5000. That's street driving RPM and if your TQ is low in that range, it's not going to be a fun street car. Maybe on track to rev to 8000.

LOL if the Voodoo can rev to 10k, the engine in a Ferrari 458 can probably rev to 12K+. Factory limiter is 9k...

actually quite a while back when so many were doubting the existence of the flat plane my friend at Roush said they had one on the dyno, and it could spin to ten grand. This is a fact as it was a fact that the motor was and is a reality. Ford could do this in the 60s with its DOHC indy and F1 motors. Even a 427 SOHC could run pull those numbers. Ford is the greatest performance motor company of all time the records show this. This is why I am a Ford enthusiast. With ten grand capability eight grand durability is ensured.

What I get out of this is that ECU's will be programmed and engines will get popped and we will all see these vids on youtube in about a year.

You are really looking into the wrong car. I'm going to guess you've never driven a car that holds its torque flat for over 5000rpms. High revving cars are an absolute blast on the street. Especially high revving V8s.

I dont know.
I have an idea, but Idont want to spculate.

Both curves looked butter smooth, specially the hp curve which just kept climbing, and climbing and....

It means they got their valvetrain and flow numbers correct which is fundamental for any racing engine.

I remember reading a paper about the 302 engine when it first came out and the engineers kept talking about the ecu (pcm) being at its limit.
I never understood that.

Not the case this time. Thats for damn sure.

S550 with 5.2 would make a nice American Iron machine :clap2:

Hope nobody on this board gets any dumb ideas about bumping their rev limiters into the five-figure range.

its just a matter of time, deftly going to test it. My 5.4 in the GT is good for 8500 1150HP. But like anything it will take testing and innovation.
