If you're feeling any kind significant difference in torque it's placebo.

The eco has a torque hit early on that feels very v8 like. That is something you're going to run into more on a daily driver vs long full throttle runs where the v6 shines. It's nice hearing the turbo spool up and feeling that tq come on. I'm getting my v8 like torque and 4 cylinder fuel economy.

Yeah getting that 4 cylinder fuel economy with 93 octane. And I prefer my power throughout the entire rpm range instead of dying out....that's how cars pass you in a race lol

The difference is in low speed city driving and when the EB is run on 87. When your EB is out of boost it is a standard 2.3l 4 cylinder which is going to feel more sluggish in certain situations then the 3.7l. On 87 octane your EB is only able to produce 20 more TQ then the 3.7l on 87. You really are not going to feel that in a 3500+ lb car. Now I know what your going to say... On 93 the EB produces 40 more TQ but then that is going to negate your fuel savings and might actually end up costing more the the V6 using 87.

The moral of the story: The EB and V6 are VERY similar in performance and benefits in stock form. The OP just needs to drive both and decide which one he is going to enjoy more.

IMO OP it really sounds like you are going to be happier with an EB. If I had the option between a 051A V6 and a EB PP with only a $300 price difference then I would certainly have gone with the EB.

Placebo torque effect. lol. So why add any bolt ons if I'll only experience placebo effect from it?

Two completely different things. No one here is saying that the EB has NO benefit over the V6. Yes when you start modifying these two cars the EB has a MASSIVE advantage over the 6. But in base stock form they are almost identical in power and benefits.

:amen:

I was in a similar situation and settled on the V6 (after test driving both) for all of the reasons already mentioned. I'm not sure if anyone touched upon aftermarket options (we all know the GT/EB are getting the most love currently) but there are quite a few parts from the S197 V6 that fit the S550 V6.

It seems like there's plenty of banter for now until the OP test drives both and reflects upon his experiences...

I don't think we'll ever agree on this. Ecoboost guys will defend the ecoboost and v6 will defend the v6. They are both great motors and you really can't go wrong with either. I went ecoboost because it was the new thing and the fuel economy is amazing. Also wanted the premium interior and shaker sound system which wasn't available in the 6. Enjoy your v6 guys. You made the right decision by buying a 15 mustang regardless of motor choice.

There might be a few EB guys willing to grab a lane and give it a shot. We all know the EB has proven to be a turd on the track...

Both engines are good but budget wise they are very different. I'm choosing the V6 for affordability (mostly) as in I can run cheaper gas and get all the benefits of the engine (HP and Torque). I'll also get fuel economy similar to the Eco while saving money on gas so it's a win/win economically. I'm not concerned about modifying and in spite of all the Internet/Magazine love the EB gets there are and will be plenty of parts available to make more HP out of the V6. The main difference to me is the SOUND. The EB just doesn't sound right to me, it's not bad it's just not "right". Since its a totally subjective thing I'm not saying it shouldn't be in a Mustang or anything, but the V6 sounds closest to the V8. Has a throaty note from idle to open throttle. If they would only have put some premium features on the V6 - but that may not be Fords plan. I know I'll love my V6 and be extremely happy as I upgrade on my own and as money is available. Drive both, and get what you feel is best for you and your needs- it's still a Mustang!
