I mean sure, whatever, but the nameplates, Mach-4, Mach-E etc. Just stop dragging the Mach nameplate through the mud. It was already enough of an F up doing it once. Call it a Dark Horse-4 or something, since they went on and on about how they don’t want to resurrect old nameplates anymore. Yet, continue to do so in the worst ways. I wasn’t alive in the 60’s, far from it, I was born in 2000. But, it still pisses me off to see the heritage of these cars messed with without regard.
Heh, I can agree with you here... I remember after I got my Mach 1, the Mach E was already on sale and far more popular with the general population than my car. If it came up in conversation that I liked fun cars had a Mustang Mach 1, people would say something like "oh cool, I was looking at one of those! how many miles do you get on a charge???" 🤦🏽

Ok. Sure. An appliance is better in every way. One that lies about range, looks like a melted turtle, has a fisher price interior and a buggy ADAS that phantom brakes on the hwy for nothing. I’ve driven 3s and Ys, they’re quick electric Camrys or Rav4s but with shit quality. But, Ok, boss, go order one.

Also, are you aware that the Mach E 4X has no 5 second full power limit and is actually quicker to 110 than a pre-‘23 GT? No? Because myself and a bunch of other Mach E owners ripped Ford’s ass on the forum and social media for allowing the GT to be hobbled like that. Guess what? They had to fix it for ‘24. And now it runs 11.7@116+ like it should have.
Fully aware of that. Too bad you don't have that one! And still way slower than a Tesla.

I always laugh when people try to say what's a Mustang and what isn't, Ford is the only one that gets to say what is a Mustang and what isn't. That's coming from someone who HATES that the Mach E is called a Mustang lol. Just like I always hated when people say if it doesn't have a V8, then its not a real Mustang, fully ignoring the FACT that if it wasn't for the V6s or EBs sales, the Mustang would've died a long time ago. I've been a Mustang fan my whole life, its my favorite car, and I would take one over ANY other car, no matter how much money I have.....but that's just me lol, I don't agree with everything Ford has done with the Mustang or its name, but at the end of the day, it is what it is. None of that effects my day to day life, so who really cares.

That kind of reasoning didn't seem to work so well when they tried to make a FWD Mustang. In the end they had to concede that sometimes the market can have a say in the matter.
But it's true that times have changed. Back then customers' opinions used to matter. Today they don't.

Ford has the legal right to call anything a Mustang, even a bicycle or a bottle opener if they so wish. But no one gets to tell us what we should consider to be a proper Mustang. You can call a goat a fish if you're its owner, but to us it's still a goat.

I think Ford missed a golden opportunity to call this a GT4D. Say it out loud and you will get it.

Ford is using the Mustang name because the name sells. Nobody will buy this if it called the Taurus, 500, Crown Vic, etc. Am I disappointed they are diluting the "Mach" name again? Yes. But if the car is equipped with a 5.0 hybrid powertrain, offered in A10 and manual, AWD or RWD, then Ford will open up options to MANY more buyers. I had to wait until my kid was big enough to safely sit in the front seat before I got into a Mustang again. Imagine how many late 20-early 30 dads will love having one of these as their primary DD and not have to compromise. They will be one of the coolest dads dropping their kids off at the car rider line at school. No more admitting you have accepted mediocrity by buying a boring mid size SUV. This thing, especially if offered as some type of hatch back like the Audi A7, would be an amazing DD.

Sorry, but this is automotive evolution.

That would be pretty impressive if they can sell a hybrid V8 4 door under 40k.
I don't think the V8 would be a hybrid, and definitely not sub-40k

...wish they would just leave it Mach 4 and not add the mustang part... Should have done that with the Mach E.
The Mach-E outsells the Mustang...partly because of the Mustang heritage.....

Model Y or MUSTANG MACH-E.....I know which one I'm buying.

EVs have a place in the world, especially compared to spending $5/gal on premium gas

If the Mach E didn't exist, I'd be in the camp of Ford should call this 4-door something else. But Ford already let the cat out of the bag with the Mach E. If they produce this car it will be called a Mustang. No sense in crying about it at this juncture.

I wonder if a Mustang wagon would be even more popular with the younger crowd than a 4-door sedan. I'm NOT talking about an SUV but a true wagon with the same ride height as the current Mustang. I'm in my 60s but people I know in their 20s thru 40s seem to love wagons.

This is precisely why the idea has potential. These days many cannot afford a Mustang as a second or 3rd vehicle for a weekend toy.

the 4BW and the 5BW sell quite well. Ford may as well get in on performance sedans. The 5BW is a monster, the 4BW (which I used to have) is a nice sports sedan. The 5BW with the precision package is too. I hope Ford does something similar. V8, tuned suspension and manual.

Ford got close to that market in the 20teens. I had a 14 MKS AWD Ecoboost which could absolutely set sail for a big car. Like so often, they get a car really good then they can it. A sedan with a performance V8 and manual option would get my interest.

Yup, which was basically a more luxurious SHO, Hell its the same with the Fusion Sport, 2.7 EB, AWD....quite the little sleeper.
