Why did I only realize that the S650 copied the heat extractors and a lot of the body's style from the 6th Gen Camaro? I've watched so many Raiti's Ride's mustang reviews, and I just noticed this. LOL. It's so fascinating to me that Ford would do this...

I'm really happy with my S550, but was curious if anyone else (S650 owners would have more of an opinion) cares about this? I'm not really a fan of the S650 body style and the interior with the huge screens, but others seem to dig it. The interior materials are better/nicer than my S550 (especially the door panels) even with the premium trim that I now have, I'll give it that. :)

Although the S650 is not a bad looking car, it really can't compete with the S550, which may be the best example of the Mustang yet produced. I know my '21 Mach 1 HP makes me smile every time I look at it, and there isn't a bad angle to view it from!

The front end of the S650 is growing on me, and like most cars these days it seems, it looks better in person than in photos.

I have read and heard that the S650 drives better than the S550, and overall seems to be a better-built car, but the interior, while maybe using higher quality materials, doesn't really work for me.

The S650 rear end looks like the MachE taillights and the front is similar to the newer Honda accord I’m my opinion.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the deeply in-cut rear, and I do see the similarity to the Honda Accord, but that doesn't mean it can't look good, and I do think the S650 is much more aggressive. But as always, looks are subjective.

If the S550 never existed, the S650 would probably be a lot more popular. But, as we know...

They fixed the headlights, which was my biggest gripe about the S550 Gen II front end. The tail lights are also too small, but I like the shape. I do think the DH and DHSC look good. Personally, I see the Accord front end more than I do anything resembling a Camaro. I think with modern cars they all have generally the same shape, so we could argue it also has the same profile as a DB9 or AMG GT.

I still think the S550 Gen I is the best looking Mustang ever built. Even the base look great. There was no way they were going to top that with the S650. But not only did they make it look less good, which is fine, it happens, BUT they made it way fatter. How they did that was beyond me.

I think I *may* be getting a little desensitized to the styling of the S650....finally. I'm not in the market for a new Mustang, but if I did end up with an S650 there are a few exterior tweaks I'd make (black taillight panel would be first, and appropriate rear spoiler).

Since this thread compares style cues between the two, there's really only 1 angle I don't like seeing my '22 from. It's the one that reveals the odd-to-me shape of the '18+ front bumper under the headlights. I have a few ideas to fix that too. S650 does not have this issue.

IMO only, the S650 took a step back in distinctive side body lines from the S550's. And then oddly on the rear they're a bit too high with the lower fascia and a bit too "cut in" around the taillights to my eye.

The new car looks great and if they did steal elements from the Camaro they took the good parts and left the bad.

The new Dark Horse SC design nails how good the S650 can look, no surprise here they held back some on the initial cars.

I am sure the refresh that has to be due soon will make the new Mustangs even cooler.

In no way has a Mustang always needed body lines on the side or some shit, Foxbody's didn't have that kind of thing and neither did some of the 70s ones. This gen was clearly going for the 80s with the color scheme and interior themes of the Fox, makes a lot of sense they took styling cues from those cars and not the 67 fastback or whatever the S550 is based on.

I'm seeing more and more S650s on the street and there is one red GT with strips that has softened my opinion on the looks. Yeah I said it, I don't hate the look anymore. It's growing on me. The issue I still have is that Ford styled this new Mustang strangely, with bold angular shapes on the nose and tail but soft curves and flowing lines everywhere else. To me it's diametrically opposed. The 2018 refresh had too many sharp angles i.e. cat fish look for my taste. I still bought a 2021 despite that and it grew on me. I do see other cars when I look at the S650 though. And the DHSC still looks like a truck nose to me. In time I suppose those cars will grow on me as well. But I draw the line at the dash. That dash does not say sports car at all. Don't care that you can change the display to show whatever gauges you like. The Digital dash in the 2021 that I have did it right, you can configure it as you like, but it still looks like a gauge pod of a sports car.

I like them both for their own characteristics. They both look great in their individual ways. Yet you S550 lovin' S650 haters better walk light comparing the S650 to an Accord (which I personally think is an exaggeration) For the S550 front end is a dead ringer for a four door Ford Fusion! hahaha!

All that being said, I am right in the middle of choosing a 21-23 Mach 1. Or a 24-25 Grabber Blue Dark Horse. Like I said, I like them both.

Ford's family resemblance (Fusion) is acceptable. But not from a different manufacturer.
