Do these rotors look healthy to you?

Hello,

I am finally getting serious about getting my first Ford. There is a 2020 350 R I am looking at and the rotors on the passenger side are clean and the rotors on the driver side are rusted. Why do we not see these changes on all 4 rotors?

Dealer states this is simply due to rain but this car is from the salt belt and so I am hoping for any good opinions on this.

If everything looks to be represented accurately otherwise, I plan to get this up on a lift with an Independent PPI as well as see it in person for my own PPI but thought I couldn’t miss by utilizing the expertise here on the forum.

Rusty means it was prob washed and dried and wasn't driven for a few days.

I wouldn't judge on rotors. Get it on a lift.

Those rotors definitely weren't tracked, so that's positive.

It may just be the light, but the ceramic looks really clean on the rust free rotor, and dirty on the rust rotor. Look hard at the clean side to see if any evidence of collision is on that side. The wheel itself has less evidence of use, too, the rust rotor side looks like the wheel has some normal wear and tear, the clean rotor, that wheel looks new.

Also, the rear wheels, see the little road marks from the front wheels kicking up stones on the rust rotor side? There is none of those marks on the non rust rear wheel.

Might be nothing. But I'm suspicious of hitting a curb or some other damage that affected one side of the car.

I see what you’re saying. I also have to take in to consideration the shady side and sunny side could be making things a little difficult to see as well as I need . Will definitely need to see this in person. I appreciate the comments.

Agreed, to my original point, it's really hard to tell in photos. Once you get it on a lift or get the hood and doors open, it will tell the whole story. Other spots worth looking are these 4 spots under the hood to see if fenders and bolts match, or if it looks like one side has been taken off.

All of that will be gone 1 mile from the dealership.

Rotors are iron and will rust almost immediately after a wash or even a bit of dew. I live in the desert and mine get rust after a wash. It’s nothing.

Thanks for the info. Yes, I always look for bolts that appear to have been removed as a sign of body panels being removed.

If the rotors were replaced, it would be odd to not have replaced all 4. I will see where this goes when I interrogate the salesman.

I didn’t think of that. It looks like very superficial drips and other things are looking positive. Dealer has been credible so far.

I looked at more pix this morning and it was clear in other photos. I think the previous sprinkler wash theory fits best. Will still do my due diligence. Thanks everyone for chiming in.

Looks ok to me but to be sure you would need to measure the discs. I bought a 19R' with 28,600 miles and the front rotors were shot out . I slapped on some 2017 rotors ..the ones with the holes and new pads ..pads that have a reduction of dust at the expense of some initial bite.
