My next car is maybe going to be a Camaro? Weird to say. My car is 6 years old and I was planning on going at least a few more years with it.

I can't see how if this car comes out in 2-3 years it isn't wildly better than the current Mustang, which is pretty old platform at this point. I haven't read anything in the pipe from Ford about a new gen pony coming up.

If the new Camaro is built on a caddy platform it's going to be pretty great. If they solve the issues of looks and interior seating position that plagued the last gen they could really have a winner. I am sure it will be a performer.

I put my money on it being a good improvement over the current Mustang when it launches. Will be tough to buy an aging Ford vs an all new design.

Grew up pining for a Camaro. (Settled for a beater 69 Firebird convertible, though.) Lost me on the styling in the late 90s, drove one just before they discontinued and it really was a pig. It was a mercy killing, haven't missed it. Hope they don't waste our time.

Hmm. Will believe it when I see it. GM Authority has had a few misses over the years. CT5-BW is slated to be discontinued after 2027 as well. The articles referenced is the first I’ve seen of any talk of a BW continuation. Would be great if true, but not holding my breath on that one.

IF the Camaro makes a return, that should be good for all of us, assuming the V8 is included in the offerings. If it’s turbo 4’s only, I don’t think it’s a true Mustang competitor.

Agree with Strokerswild, a different design would benefit GM as well. The styling of the last generation lasted way too long, even though it was tweaked a few times (kinda like the S650 is just a tweak of S550). It got old. I had an F body (aka catfish), I wouldn’t mind a new Camaro that took cues from that. Or the 80’s Iroc’s.

I would hope that a full offering of Camaro would push Ford to look at the 8th gen Mustang as a possible ground up development, much like S550 was compared to S197. Maybe a hybrid powertrain and/or an AWD option. Maybe pull some bits from the GTD for a higher level trim/model.

A lot of good can come to us the consumers if Chevy actually does it. I remain skeptical though, just because the performance car market overall has and is changing.
I was saying for years someone needs to add the hybrid tech to the V8 and make monsters. Then finally, Corvette did it. I’m sure this tech will trickle down over time. The full electrification is a pipe dream, but combining the two has some big positives.

Pffffffffffttt…

If it makes a come back, it will also be outsold, out performed, and die off again…. I mean this is now how many times the brand name has been brought back from the abyss?
It would be the second time the Camaro name has been revived. 2003 - 2009 there was no Camaro and 2025 - ?.

Outsold probably but the Camaro has competed and even won the sales title a few times. In 1984 the Camaro sold 261,591 units vs the Mustangs 141,480 which is unheard of today in terms of two door car sales. It also outsold the Mustang a few times over its fifth generation (2010-2015) but yah the Mustang has mostly outsold the Camaro https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a...aro-vs-mustang-sales-numbers-in-living-color/

Outperformed I highly doubt. Alpha is considered a better platform than S550/S650 and that is what the next Camaro will be built on. The next Gen V8 is a 6.7L(409 cu. in) that makes 535hp and 520 ft lbs and I expect this engine to be offered in the SS version of the car. Getting a V8 has meant you get the Tremec 6 speed manual as well and hopefully that continues. You need to step up to a Shelby or DH to get a Tremec in the Mustang.

I've made some assumptions about powertrain so I'm anxiously awaiting details but I'm optimistic. Maybe the biggest question is what form this car will take. We could see a sedan or heaven forbid a cuv. I'm hoping for a two door coupe but if that's offered I imagine it will be alongside a sedan to broaden the appeal of the car and improve sales.

Hopefully GM undercuts the shit out of the price so Ford pullls their heads out of their ass and prices the Mustang reasonably again

Car is going to be based on a Cadillac and a Buick. No way it's cheaper than a Mustang. I bet it's priced more like the new Charger Sixpack and up.

They build Cadillacs on the same platform as the last Camaro...

What ever chevy does I hope they put it on a diet. It needs to weigh around 3600 3700lbs wet with a V8 manual Then it would be fun.

Never had one, likely never will. But I'm all for competition.

Will be curious on pricing because the "new normal" of a v8 sports car is 60k+ with options. It's a luxury purchase at this point.

I like to disassemble things.
Everyone I know that tracks them is on at least their second motor. The motor isn't as robust as one might think.
What is the failure mode within that engine ?
