Ok well you’ll have to excuse me for not being a Porsche fan…but I could literally pick a dozen other cars in the same price range that have nothing to do with each other.

You missed the forest through the trees by arguing the minutiae of my point.

they're all performance cars, on what planet does that constitute nothing to do with each other?

I'm gonna put my money on it being a better version of the GT500, improved in just about every way is my bet.
That remains to be seen and I’m sure all the major Automotive mags will compare them ad nauseam. As far as has been revealed it has the same drivetrain on the same chassis. I don’t see how they can significantly improve performance in every way given the two cars being nearly identical insofar as the chassis and drivetrain.

he's wrong and shockingly naive. its a reskinned GT500. why the hell would ford spend one dime improving something that had all the legwork already done and already stands out from the non existent competition?

the darkhorse is a lame attempt by ford at creating a new super cool brand name.
its marketing, pure and simple.

Buy a GT and build a better, more sleeper car for about 50g's less-unless you like the flashy badging and "look at me" BS. These packages are designed for guys with $$ and don't mind throwing it around for whatever is the latest and greatest.

Same with my F150, instead of buying a Rousch or FP700, I bought a F150 XL work truck, added the blower, and other suspension items and tailored my build to my desires for a lot less than a Rousch or other "named" truck. Now I have a 10second truck that looks like dad's painting truck that makes people shake their head.

If you like flash and have to cash, go for it-

The sooner this trend dies, the better.

The wife's new Escape ST has essentially the same center screen that the current Mustang uses. I hate it. Useless distraction trying to adjust audio and HVAC. But at least the same boring rectangle isn't parked in your face for the video game "instruments", they're in a nicely styled nacelle.

Give me analog gauges and physical controls. I'll not buy another vehicle without.

Besides, adhering to that trend was a conscious, voluntary decision, not an obligation.
Ford follows market trends like everyone else. Conscious decision, yes. But also driven by the market so if they want to keep up they have to do it. I like the screens in the S650 in general, they work pretty well and have some cool features. Ford definitely could’ve integrated them better though. Maybe a refresh will fix that.

The Nautilus is an example of better integration. Although the center section is the same as most. I got invited to see the Mach E prior to its unveiling. I commented to an engineer about the tacked on screen. He said, Yea, I know, my kid keeps asking if he can borrow my IPAD

Here's how you do screens without looking like talentless hacks:

I mean to be fair that is a pretty bad looking layout. Nothing classic about it to me, looks like a shelf in a kitchen mixed with some screens and buttons. Everything to the right of center would look right at home on a 1994 Toyota Camry.

The butt plug shifter is a big no thanks from me.

You aren't building a better car than the DHSC unless you know a LOT of stuff about cars and the parts that go on them, or are prepared to pay out the nose and take your chances the work comes out OK with someone else doing it. Lots of horror stories of both going wrong when people tried.

And really who the fuck are we to be complaining about interiors, we all own the car that came with one of the worst base interior layouts ever made in the history of cars, with that tiny screen and calculator pad abomination.

The only way to save the mess that is our center stack was to put a big screen there, which is still pretty fucking bad. S550 owners and their high horses, smh.
