Hello all. New member here. I am a former 10-year owner of a 2013 Sterling Gray GT Premium, MT82. I did a fair amount of the usual mods over this time (Boss intake, LU47 injectors, PBD tune, exhaust, etc.) I sold the car 2 years ago as it was my daily and it was wearing on my arthritic left knee. I bought a 2022 Acura TLX Type-S. It's a fine car. Reliable, relatively quick and rides good. However, I badly miss that 5.0.

I plan to get back into a Mustang within the next 9-12 months and am doing some preliminary research. It will not be my daily. It will be a weekend/drive to work on Friday car. Few comments/thoughts/questions:

- I have no desire to get into a S650. I greatly prefer the S550 for many reasons.

- My budget (as of today) will be $35k - $40k.

- In my mind, I am leaning to either a 2019-2020 PP2 or a 2019 - 2020 Bullitt. I like these packages and they seem to retain a bit more value than a PP1 car.

- The Mach 1 would be ideal, but as of now it is above my expected price range.

Any recommendations for either the PP2 or Bullitt?

Thanks for any input.

Welcome, I'm glad you're looking for a S550 , you say your budget as of today is 35-40 k , If you can save an additional 5k in the next year , that is your plan to purchase at that time period. You can afford a nice Mach1 base for about $45 k and lower miles around high teens to low 20 k miles.
Here's a couple examples

If your knee is shot, like mine is, then an A10 car is the way to go. I don't think the Bullitt was an auto. If you come across a GT/CS then I think you may be happy. It has a real nice interior and very low production numbers. Also some exclusive features not available on any of the GTs.

Thanks everyone for the comments. I failed to mention that I want this Mustang "toy" to be a manual. To me, nothing beats the feel of shifting from 2nd to 3rd at redline in a coyote (except when the MT82 locks me out LOL). My knee can handle a clutch on a non-daily car. It's the 250+ miles a week in traffic that about did me in. 😀

Gen6Mach1 - thanks for the links to the Mach 1's for sale. I will make that a goal and may wait on the right one to show up.

Given your choices, I'd pick the Mach 1 all day.

You can get what you want given your budget, unless you're looking for super low miles, PP2, etc.

I hear you on the M1, but you can’t go wrong with a Bullitt either. In. Perfect world, I’d like to own both and not mod the M1. My Bullitt has been a whole other story as far as mods go. I think if Steve McQueen were still alive today, he’d like a heavily modded Bullitt. I do know he wanted one at one time because he tried to buy back the remaining Bullitt used in filming. Problem was, he didn’t want to pay much for it. Little did/would he be here know thatI t sold for over $3.5M.

Hey Bama5.0 Consider a '21 California Special in Velocity Blue, if obtainable. I traded mine in for a '24 RTR in Rapid Red and at times I regret it even though the '24 is great, that Velocity Blue really caught your eye. Good Luck and Welcome Back!

20 GT PP2. 21 Mach1 (Sold)
I had a Mach 1 (Non HP) and now a PP2. There s not a bad choice for a toy weekend car. The PP2 with the stock 305 step up has sharper front end grip due to the tires. Driving it around town you ll not notice too much difference at all. Less production # s on the PP2 (if you care). I see M1 s all day long and never see PP2s. Now if your going to do alot of track days I d go M1 for the upgrades meant for the track and then go HP if you plan on leaving it stock. $40-45 should get you in a nice car.

To think the Mach 1 was bashed initially to now being recommended LOL!

All great choices OP but if you can stretch your budget slightly you will not be disappointed getting a Mach 1. The tremec is so worth it as is the rest of the package. Good luck.

If no racing is planned, then Bullitt, or as has been noted a California Specail. Bullitt will probably hold value better. PP2 is more for road race / autocross with it's big wheels and lowered / stiffened suspension; same can be said for a Mach 1.

Mach1 or Bullitt. You can't go wrong with either. IMO the M1 should be the 1st choice. GT/CS is not bad either.

Glad you're thinking manual. My knees are junk as well. I drive it on weekends and pay for it later. The tremec is worth the little extra money. And it comes in a nice package.:)
