Dark Horse SC, who's adding one, who's replacing with one, what will it do to GT500 values?

Midway Mustang just posted this...

Wow, if that's true the value of GT500s just got a nice boost.

BUT, has this been verified? Those prices seem crazy.

And while I only keep a cursory eye on C8s, I can't keep all the permutations in my head. But off the top of my head, it seems at any DHSC price point you could get a better performing C8 for less.

It's been pretty much confirmed through multiple reliable sources across various platforms. Unless Ford is pulling a bait and switch by leaking grossly exaggerated numbers to the dealerships, only to come out with a much lower public release price later. Maybe that's their game. Doubtful.

I have a very hard time believing any Mustang will outperform a comparable C8 considering that huggeeeee gap in the top tier.

I wonder (and this might apply to the GTD as well), that a twin turbo version of the Predator engine would have cost quite a bit more and not offered enough of a performance jump to be worth it, and they didn't like the reliability of the existing 7 speed DCT with any more power.

therefore sticking with the old powerplant
Ford has turbo tech down pat. It wouldn't cost more than the supercharger does. Maybe the cost of the addition of some piping and associated routing R&D. But that's minimal. Even two turbos would be less than a supercharger. The DCT in the ZR1 does Fien with gobs of power.

It's just a matter of Ford decision-making. it's not a financial concern.

40K jump for the Track Pack is disappointing. They've been slowly raising the prices on these models. The R was around 13K and the 500 CFTP was around 20K. We had it pretty good with those prices.

The ZR1 uses the 8 speed

ford would have to spend money getting the new powertrain emissions certified etc

I don’t disagree with this, but I’m bett’n that top package jump is the carbon ceramic brakes for the most part. Haven’t paid attention to what that pakcage bump is on the C8 for reference. Do have a buddy in the Phoenix area that was talking to dealers he buys work trucks from in th LA market and they both told him they were going to be around 200k for one, and that wasn’t a fully optioned car. They’re smoking thengood stuff evidently before hitt’n the lot.

On the flip side I see that Ford is now offering incentives on the regular Dark Horse. Looks like $3,500 off MSRP.

Why would that boost GT500 prices? I still don't understand that mentality. The same powertrain is being recycled. Please elaborate, for us who are clueless.

Better looking car (subjective), Better Named Car (Subjective), Lighter car (Objective), Similar performance (Still TBD but will be objective).

So for those who want all the things the GT500 had to offer, but thought they'd wait for something better, the something "better" isn't all that much better and costs 30-50K more, so they'll shop GT500, which will add demand, and the prices will go up.

Or think of it conversely, if an equivalent DHSC was the within 10K of a GT500 when new (which is what the low miles ones are typically still commanding), why would you buy the GT500? But now that the step is 30-50K, the GT500 looks like a bargain.

The R package was $13.5k '15-16, $7.5k from '17-18, $8k in 2019 and $13k again in 2020. '17'-19 was the sweet spot.

Oh okay gotcha, I was hoping they would slightly dip so I can add one with my R haha. Thank you for explaining.
