Why did GM sell so many SS1LEs, why was there huge demand for the Z/28? Or the C6Z? There is a huge market for that car. Anecdotally, I've had a dozen people who are in the market for a car say they would absolutely buy something like that.

Now, the biggest issue is making a 7.3 all aluminum. I definitely agree there. Would it sell as much as the 5.0? No. But now we're in Boss territory, with bits already laying around for the most part. And the 7.3, as currently designed, shares a ton of similarities with the LS. So it's not unprecedented.
If the Camaro was that much of a sales success, it would still be here. Regardless, the SS 1LE was no different the current Dark Horse in its purpose. The Z/28 did not have huge demand either. I distinctly remember leftovers sitting in showrooms at significant discounts while ZL1's were selling just fine.

Again, the 7.3 wasn't designed for any performance purposes. The Coyote/Predator is, which is why it continues to appear in Ford's current top models.

The car you're asking for just doesn't have much of justification IMO. As a car enthusiast, it would be fun to see though.

It's a race only engine so they don't have to use the class engine which is a Gibson 4.2 V8 (600hp)
That's the engine for LMP2 not Hypercar. Hypercar can use any gas engine configuration as long as it has a hybrid element. Currently there are TT V6's, TT V8's, NA V8's, and NA V12's.

Sounds like it will be the same one.

To prepare for our internally operated race team, Seb and Rocky will be competing in the LMP2 class of the European Le Mans Series in 2026. We are building a team, refining our processes, and earning our stripes in the real world. We are taking the building blocks of this program and stress-testing them under the most demanding conditions on the planet.

We have the engine. We have the drivers. We have the vision. Being able to pull back the curtain at Season Launch 2026 is a milestone, but the work is far from over. We are building more than just a car; we are building a legacy. We are reclaiming our seat at the top table of endurance racing.

Interesting. The horsepower number that he threw out at the end? I’m sure you can’t say.

Also, is the blue a new color or is it Atlas? I couldn’t tell but he said it has some pearl in it.

You just made my point sales "got stale" on the Lightning. Huge money invested in that.
No one is arguing that sales slumped for the Lightning. We're disagreeing about why.

If the DHSC did not exist, you are OK with the standard DH as the top obtainable model?
that’s a terrible argument.

let’s say the GT was the highest tier at launch. And then just now the basic dark horse comes out.

you complain. Then someone comes along and says “if the DH did not exist, you are ok with tje GT as the top obtainable model?

terrible argument.

ford muddled things really bad with the Gtd. That really should have been the current gt500. And should not cost anywhere near w
Hat it does. It’s ridiculous. It’s all old off the shelf tech. And the suspension is from the old Camaro z28. So now we get some dark horse with an old gt500 drivetrain and we are supposed to be grateful or something?

consider that new ford factory top tiers outperform existing tuner models and look better too.

except now it’s backwards. Tje Shelby super snske is more powerful than the Gtd, so is the rtr spec 5.

the rtr is 870 hp, which I suspect the dhsc to just barely surpass at 875 or so bevause they have to now or they’ll look lame.

it’s just a case of ford not doing much at all. Basically the least they could get away with. They’d have done less if rtr didn’t exist.

you don’t look at a new car and say “well, it’s not worse than the old one.” It should have serious appeal. Consider the 2016 gt350. A tour de force in its category. The 2020 gt500? Unbelievable monster pushing the mustang to unheard of heights.

this car? “Hey, you could just be stuck with the base dark horse, so be happy.”

The heck is that?
No thanks. If Chevy can push the base c8 and z06 to such heights as affordable as they are for what you get, Ford could do way. Way better. But instead we get “hey, who cares about that stuff? we got a unobtainium Gtd and great off-road.”

Meanwhile Chevy spanked the Gtd hard for way less money and dodge is causing earthquakes with the new trx and v8 plans.
Come on ford.

Sadly, 2026 is the last year for the BW…
That is sad. Curious that they gave it a face lift and the Precision package option right before sendoff.

Typical GM though. Make it perfect right before you kill it because you botched it up until that point.

Ford isn't far behind for dumb product planning.
