So its just a GT500 replacement that looks a lot like a Camaro?

Kinda lame. Would have rather they showed off a N/A cross plane 5.2 that actually was a clear GT350 beater for once instead of constantly coming up just shy of it.
No. It’s not a gt500 replacement. Those cars make huge generational performance leaps.

This is just a factory supercharged dark horse.

Unfortunately it’s the best ford is giving us st the moment.

Reasonable to assume that used GT500 inventory will be increasing... I'm sure quite a few current owners will be thinking about moving up a few model years for the same car but with improvements.
My initial gut instinct told me the S550 GT500s and even GT350 just got a value and desirability boost. The DH (S650) in general didn't sell that well and a highly optioned DH can be had for well under MSRP. Meanwhile S550 GT500 prices are holding above and just below MSRP. Time will tell.

I was hoping for more progress. They've used this motor in 3 of their vehicles already, while Chevy is running around with FPC N/A and Twin Turbo motors.
Maybe this isn't the rumoured "Corvette killer" and a proper 2 seat sports car is still to come. The thing is there is no Camaro so the engines you're referring to are Corvette specific, which is technically in a different tier.

I understand some disappointment but this is another option for the 2 door Mustang. Its good Ford is giving the car some attention. The two door Charger with the inline 6 weighs 4800 pounds. That's heavy and I wonder if it will compete in the segment or exist mostly as a police car. The Mustang stands alone and I respect it for that while waiting for gm to bring back a proper Camaro.

I work in Ford Prototype Development and I personally spoke to the head engineer. This IS the GT500 successor unfortunately @9secondko

Hoping so, but I'm not holding my breath. Ford really can't compete with Corvette as it is with the base C8.

Price wise, regular Dork Horse or base C8? My dollars would go toward having the V8 behind my back. I still don't care for the rear view of the C8, but I don't like any of the S650 styling.

It is just a new GT500. Same engine as the GT500. Same transmission as the GT500. Same aero as the GT500 CFTP.

If it walks like a duck and sounds like a duck.....

No its not, it's the whole GT500 drivetrain, and as there has been no previous DHSC so technically there is nothing to improve over in Ford eyes, just the bar to not be worse than the last GT500.

Which makes it more odd to me they still don't want to produce a car faster than the GT350 that's not supercharged. Why be oddly protective of the GT350 but not the GT500.

Can you tell him to relay to marketing that people REALLY hate the names they are putting out?

They have been nothing but screwups since they tried to name the Mach-E the Mach1.

This about dollars and cents people. Ford wasted "BILLONS" on that EV crap no one wanted. Look at how much price increase there was from 2023 Mustangs to 2026 Mustangs. They are not going to spend money on a new engine or Mustang model until they recoup all that money flushed down the drain. They will go to the parts bin, use what they got, slap some new moniker on it, do a big dog and pony show, pay some influencers to say it's great, and then hope it sells.

There is one by me with a 73.5K sticker listed for 68K, and I STILL find that to be like 8-10k to much for what's barely better than a Mach1.

The fact the Mach-e was outselling the current coupe for a bit, and that Dark Horses are already discounted by thousands and sitting on lots tells me that EV's are not the problem here. The S650 is the money sink right now. There is 0 American sports car competition other than the Vette and its sales are still at historic lows.
