I was hoping for more progress. They've used this motor in 3 of their vehicles already, while Chevy is running around with FPC N/A and Twin Turbo motors. The 5.2 has been around for over a decade already. Carbon Ceramics are cool but this car is mainly just an updated GT500 without the name. I would expect at least 20K more than the CFTP MSRP?

Whoever is in Ford's marketing department needs to be fired. What an absolutely stupid name. It makes it seem like a hopped up Dark Horse instead of using one of the storied list of iconic Mustang names to draw in people who have the kind of money to buy this thing.

Had Ford named it the Mustang Cobra, it instantly would've received more credibility than the "Dark Horse SC". What a fumble.

Yeah, posted my thoughts at 7G as well. Just really disappointed in the S650 overall, doesn't really matter whether it's a GT DH, DHSC or the 4,400 lb monstrosity that is the GTD. The dash is completely uninspiring to sit in front of, seats that are now over ten years old, square body language etc.

I was hoping that Ford was going to offer a Mustang GT4 derived 5.4 optioned with both a DCT and manual, price it above the DH but well closer to the price of the DH than that obnoxious GTD. Going the way they did with the 5.2; it's in the Raptor R, the departed GT500 and the GTD. They've done that, do something different and make a direct connection with what they race. Why is Ford racing with the 5.4 if they don't offer it in a street car?

Thinking about it now, it makes sense they re-used this motor in the car. Were they really going to drop something new while the GTD uses the old SC 5.2? Ideally it would have been nice if they dropped something new with the GTD (FPC Twin Turbo)

If this car is a filler model, fine. Sooner or later they're going to have to eventually move on from the 5.2. I hope bigger things are coming.

I could be wrong, but my gut feeling at the moment is that the take rate for this thing won't be anything like previous cars....

More money for an uglified GT500? Nah.

I should be excited for this thing.....

Opinions? Anybody want to guess about where msrp will be?

MSRP....Base ~$85, CFTP, $100. This excludes most "adds" they will inevitably get.

That's in line with the GT500 plus inflation.

Now, any guesses on weight? I'm thinking 4400.

I think it'll go a bit higher across the board. The base '22 GT500 I wanted to order had a sticker around $80K, IIRC. That's before ADM buggery.

Base $90k, CFTP $110k, Special Editions $125k. 🤞

If it weighs 4400lbs, I'm definitely not buying one. If it's 4000lbs or under, I'll consider an all black CFTP.

If it's $100k + for a base and 4300lbs, I'm not a buyer.

Reasonable to assume that used GT500 inventory will be increasing... I'm sure quite a few current owners will be thinking about moving up a few model years for the same car but with improvements.

But count me in with the meh appearance crowd.

I think we are missing the obvious here. Ford had to recoup all the money spent on the EV BS nonsense. There was no cash to design a new "Boss" engine. The 5.4 is a race engine and it would cost some bucks to make it smog compliant. So I get why Ford raided the parts bin once again. The stuff was good to begin with. But why oh why did they put lipstick on that pig of a nose!
