A youTuber who will go unmentioned hinted at Ford possibly announcing 2 new models. A Boss with a 7.3L platform and an AWD Hybrid Cobra as the step just below the GTD.

Rumors are always just that, rumors. We'll know in 17 days.

I don’t think anything unusual is coming out. There’s no more Voodoo in the GT350 they’re all GT’s converted into GT350 just a big whipple and borlas.

…. Idk about all that, but choices are good.

Ford did a similar thing with the new Bronco trims when it first came out. The had the Badlands geared more toward the rock crawling crowd and the Wildtrak geared more toward the high speed off roading crowd.

So why not offer the faster DCT and the more fun/involved but slower manual tranny?

Because some dummies at Edmunds are going to compare the manual to a DCT Vette? Who cares, let them. Buyers with a brain will know what they’re getting and why
Profit is always the deciding factor and SUVs are the big money makers for every automaker. I've always heard the Mustang gets skinned alive by Ford's bean counters every business year. That's one of the reasons why options are so limited. If we want to continue to see the Mustang evolve we have to give a "little" as enthusiasts. If they offer a DCT in this new SC'd Cobra, I don't see a 6MT version coming. They never offered one with the previous GT500 and imagine razor thin margins are probably one of the reasons why.

I can’t imagine Ford dropping a AWD hybrid/predator on us… I just don’t think they have it.

Excited to see still, I’d like to see some more displacement though.. why can’t we up the 5.0 to a 6.1 or something… and the 5.2 to a 6.3

Throw us some cubes… and cut frickn weight

I hear ya but it sucks because Ford is willing to take losses on Mach-E’s and Lightnings but the Mustang gets no love

Well, I don't think Ford expected to take losses like that. The political climate changed and killed a lot of "green" leaning programs. Not just EVs.

Ford could use ten less Bronco trims.
They've already done a pretty good job of neutering that product, at least the 2-doors (i.e. the real Broncos).

The problem with the manual option, is at that level the performance would fall off so hard compared to the auto....look at the difference in the 460hp GT. Gap really widens when you start adding power.
In a straight line, OK. On a curvy track? They could close the gap a lot.

They could also gear the manual more aggressively, instead of mfgs always somehow neutering the manual option with bad ratios or something.

I would argue all manual enthusiasts in the modern era know and accept we are sacrificing some performance for the manual, that's OK with me. Otherwise I wouldn't have ordered a manual I guess.

I just don't care how fast an auto is, it is boring to me to just push the gas pedal and hold on.
I am sure there are people with more money than me that feel the same way.

And that's the gap I see that Ford could come in and surprise everyone with, and offer something most others aren't.

I think it could be more likely that they do something like this with how they are targeting the GT3 with the GTD.

I am all for the Hybrid AWD if that is true. Maybe I can steel the front suspension from it for future V8 AWD conversions:)

My problem like others have mentioned is that I am sick of the $100, $200...Million dollar cars that get all of the press on YouTube but nobody can afford. The point of a Mustang is to be somewhat affordable.

Be careful - there are dudes out there that don't know you can use these cars for anything other than roll racing and the drag strip, and they will short circuit when you start talking about this kind of thing.

Like... people exist who bought GT350s and just... took them to the drag strip. Those poor cars.

They also tend to be pretty fragile and will hurl insults about how you wouldn't want to sleep with a robot (seems like a self-own?) then edit the post when they sober up.

The auto would be much faster at both.

I agree. most people will never even see a GTD in the wild nevertheless own one.

Fortunately, the base model Ecoboost, priced at $32640 is, as a percentage of median family income, on par with a 1965 base Mustang $2368.
The huge discrepancy come between the halo cars of both periods.

Price vs. Income Comparison

Year
ModelOriginal MSRPMedian Family IncomeCar Price as % of Income
1965Shelby GT350$4,547$6,88266.1%
2022Shelby GT500$80,815*$92,62487.2%
2025Mustang GTD$327,960$106,478308.0%
*MSRP includes destination fees and gas guzzler tax.
†Median family income for 2022 (Census Bureau data often differentiates "household" ($74.6k) from "family" ($92.6k); family income is used here for consistency with historical 1965 "family" data).

Seeing rumors the grand sport will have a manual 😁
I’ve seen a couple articles now speculating that as well. Guess we’ll see
